"Great service. Came on time. Did 4 hours of work on flashing on my roof. Painted facia and metal chimney as well as trimming tree branches overhanging the roof. Didn't over charge and was nice to work with. I will be calling if I have other projects around the house."

"I’ve always wanted a second bathroom. I contacted JK Complete R&C. Jack came to my home and assessed the would be project. Jack gave me a reasonable price, start and proposed finish date. Then I met the crew John, Mike and Ziggy. We had a great relationship. Everything that was to be accomplished was explained to me on a daily bases. By the end of the project we had a bond and it felt like family. I also learned quite a bit in the process. I am total fascinated with my new bathroom. I have already recommended JK Complete to family members."

"I've been in and out of a lot of new construction in Lake County, and Icon's work stands out. The finishes are a real step above what you usually see, and the trim, cabinetry and tile were all clean and well executed. What impressed me most is that the house was fully custom, so nothing was pulled off a standard plan. Every detail had to be decided and built from scratch, and it still came out cohesive and thought through. The team was easy to deal with, responsive when questions came up, and they kept the job moving. If you're thinking about building custom in this area, I'd highly suggest you to reach out to Icon Building Group."

"They built a full porch after they took down my existing small stoop porch. It looks better than I could have ever imagined. They explained everything as they went was a great experience."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

It’s better to build a garage than buy and install a prefabricated one. You can save money by purchasing a prefabricated metal garage kit for between $4,000 and $11,000. However, this does not include the price of labor and permits, which can account for more than half of the project cost. Building a new garage over buying a prefab garage will add more value to your home and will last longer, so it’s more cost-effective over time to build a new garage.

Deciding whether to buy a prebuilt fireplace kit or build one from scratch comes down to aesthetics, available space, and budget. Many homeowners like the convenience and lower cost of prebuilt options—around $1,500—versus the involved planning and construction of a larger fireplace. Another bonus: you can usually move prebuilt units. Custom projects are more common when homeowners have access to a larger budget and more area in the yard to place the fireplace.

Adding a storm shelter can increase the value of a home if you live in an area prone to intense storms. According to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, safe rooms can increase the home's sale price by 3.5%. That’s about $10,500 on a $300,000 home, which could be a 100% ROI or more if you build a storm shelter that’s on the smaller side.

Sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs support greener construction options.

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.
