"We’re still in the planning stage with Icon and haven’t even broken ground yet, but we already have to leave a review because they’ve been that impressive. From day one, these guys have been on top of everything. They answer our questions fast, keep us in the loop, and actually listen to what we want. No runaround, no feeling like just another job on their list. The whole design process has been way easier than we expected. They walk you through everything step by step and give you tons of options to make the house truly yours. We came in not really knowing what to expect and they made it simple. Honestly, if the build goes half as smooth as everything has gone so far, we’re going to be thrilled. We can’t recommend Icon enough — these are good, hardworking people who take pride in what they do. Can’t wait to see our dream home come together!"

"They were fabulous - can't say enough about the team. On-time & on-budget (always a win), but respectful of our home and family. Not only were they were professional, knowledgeable and experienced, they were true craftsman - a rare find these days. Roman and Harry even took time to teach me a few things for future DIY projects. I would 100% recommend them!"

"We worked with Linda at DESIGNfirst to scope out initial designs for multiple variations of a major multi-floor / multi-room remodel of our home. She was extremely helpful in proposing and developing design ideas and effective at working with her team to turn around our proposal variations in a timely fashion with high quality. We ultimately held off on our remodeling plans for reasons completely unrelated to the outstanding work Linda and DESIGNfirst provided. We hope to revisit our remodeling plans at the right time, and when we do, we know who we'll call!"

"I worked directly with Jasmine. Jasmine was great to work with, very professional and relatable. She was understanding about the sudden changes in color and material I had during multiple consultations. She offered me a vast knowledge of materials and details about the work I hadn’t thought of or didn’t know about. If I have another project in the future I won’t hesitate to reach out to Sentri Homes."

"Our project turned out fantastically. We made numerous upgrades to the whole house to bring it from 1978 to current times. The quality of the work done was very good by all of the subcontractors and RD himself did many of the projects. His communication was pretty good throughout the process, but some work took a bit longer and the monetary side of the change orders weren't always clearly communicated or I would have given 5 stars."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

To qualify as a guest house, a structure needs to meet your local building code requirements. In some locations, a guest house must be a separate residence from the primary home. In other locations, you may be able to connect the two buildings and still call the second building a guest house. However, a structure doesn’t often need a minimum size to qualify as a guest house.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

Yes, modular homes are typically safe for areas prone to hurricanes. In regions at risk of severe storms, local zoning guidelines often require that these dwellings be built using materials designed to endure strong winds and heavy rainfall, ensuring they meet the safety standards for such conditions.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.

Adding a storm shelter can increase the value of a home if you live in an area prone to intense storms. According to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, safe rooms can increase the home's sale price by 3.5%. That’s about $10,500 on a $300,000 home, which could be a 100% ROI or more if you build a storm shelter that’s on the smaller side.
