"Jeremy was always responsive to questions and concerns, and communicated about any delays he experienced due to matters out of his control. He did the job neatly, professionally, and within the time frame he had originally estimated."

"I can’t say how much I appreciate Salvador and his crew. They came out for a quote, started work almost immediately and diligently worked to complete job. I’ve never seen such a hard working team. Excellent communication throughout and finished in quoted time frame and price. I will definitely hire for future projects."

"This gentleman is a pro! I was impressed with his professionalism. His workmanship was EXCELLENT.My walls were in ill repair. Not only did he patch and sand, there was hardly any mess.Usually when this type of work is done, my whole house gets plaster dust...everywhere. He was very neat and clean, methodical. His eye for detail was impeccable.I,m an interior designer and very "picky".So.. with that said, I am VERY HAPPY with the finished project. He also finished in a very timely manner.Yes! I would hire again! Thank you! Garman Painting!"

"We had a great experience working with Top Bros construction and remodeling. They fully removed our tile and wood flooring and installed LVP that we had provided. They also installed new trim and baseboards throughout, which look great. They were timely and efficient. We are very happy with the outcome!"

"I purchased two awnings from homedepot and was looking for an installer. Ivan and his team-mate did a good job in taking down my existing awnings and replacing them with the new ones I had purchased. They were even accommodating when I wanted to sand and paint the underlying wood to which one of the awnings was going to be mounted; while they worked on the other awning. There were a few hiccups of not having the right size drillbit and tools since the awnings were atypical. But, Ivan managed to find the parts at ace and with some help from my neighbor, all was well! The new awnings look great!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Costs depend on furniture type, size, complexity, and whether additional modifications are needed.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.
