"I was looking through Angie's list to hire an Architect and noticed "Mark Anderson Architects" was open (it was 7:30pm). Decided to give a call and I was expecting a receptionist to answer, but it was Mark himself. Talked to him about the project I had in mind and he gave me all the information over the phone. He was very straight forward. Thanks for your time Mark."

"We met with owner/senior architect, Firmin Senga to join us in the viewing of our desired property. We wanted to have an architect on board with us for reassurance that the updates we plan will work before we make an offer. He was very helpful."

"I can't say enough about A P Builders and how absolutely wonderful they have been from start to finish. We completely gutted and remodeled our home and Angelo was upfront, honest, timely, and everything that was contracted was done to perfection. We had crew there every day from start to finish. He started on time and finished on time. Any change orders were handled professionally and solutions were found for any unforeseen challenges due to the age of my home. I highly recommend AP Builders for any of your home improvement needs."

"I can’t praise JD Mathein and his amazing crew high enough. I wish there was an A++ category. JD is creative, knowledgeable and extremely easy to work with. He is prompt, responsive to questions and does extraordinary work! He and his crew transformed our front and back yards into beautiful landscapes that look exactly as we hoped. He also took into account our needs for easy care plants when suggesting options that would keep the maintenance low and the beauty high. Green City Gardens is our definite go-to for our yard and garden."

"When I contacted R&G Almanza Landscape, they were very professional on the phone. Since it was outside work they sent someone to come look over the property and give me a price for a seasonal snow removal contract. Raul Almanza emailed me promptly with his proposal. Since I had never done this before I wanted to meet him. He was very accommodating with my schedule and we met at my mom's to be sure he understood what I was looking for. Unfortunately this was pretty much a hand-shovel job, Raul assured me that he had a lot of properties like my mom and it would be fine. He explained that if it snowed more that 2" in the night, by 8am it would be cleared and salted. The property also has two parking spaces in the back and included in my proposal was shoveling out the two spots. AND he even said if the tenants cars were parked in the back he would have his men shovel around the cars. I couldn't believe it. Well, the winter snow season was mild between Nov. 2016 and March 2017. R&G Almanza had to come out in early December 2-3 times and the tenants couldn't rave enough about my new snow removal find. Then we had no snow until early March when Chicago got 6-8" of snow. Since I HATE snow I thought hiring R&G was my good luck (ha ha). Well we got dumped on in the beginning of March and I had no worries because R&G handled shoveling to perfection. I highly recommend R&G Almanza Landscape for snow removal services. I would try them for my mom's landscaping needs also but she has had the same company for over 30 years and at 89 she doesn't want to change. I explained that to Raul and he assured me that it was fine. When November 2017 rolls around, I will absolutely sign another contract for snow removal services with R&G Almanza Landscaping."

Architects questions, answered by experts

A construction manager is particularly useful in the case of a large-scale build with custom design elements, so it’s usually worth it to hire one. They can help manage your budget, maintain quality control, oversee timelines, and navigate unexpected hurdles. While construction managers are pricey, they can actually save money in the long run by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring the project stays within budget.

A structural engineer's report provides a professional assessment of a property's structural condition. It typically includes an evaluation of the foundation, key structural elements like roof trusses, floor joists, studs, beams, and rafters. The report will also contain a detailed description of the engineer's findings, often supported by photographs, and provide recommendations to correct any identified issues. Depending on the scope of the inspection, it might also include an assessment of property drainage, potential issues from environmental conditions like extreme weather or tree placement, and an estimated time and cost for any recommended repairs.

Building a house without blueprints is not advised. It will prevent you from obtaining necessary building permits and meeting building codes and is likely to result in shoddy construction and unsafe living conditions. Detailed blueprints ensure that a house is built to exact specifications and is constructed safely and structurally stable.

A designer is a great choice for remodeling projects that don’t require significant structural work. For remodeling that includes structural work like removing load-bearing walls, altering exterior walls, or adding on a room, an architect can design and execute the renovations while ensuring your home remains structurally sound.

Renaissance-style architecture predates Italianate architecture and serves as an inspiration for many elements of the Italianate style. Renaissance architecture adheres to the rules of classical architecture, while Italianate architecture adds elements that served to modernize the Renaissance style for the Victorian era and allow this style of home to be produced in a range of sizes to be attainable for various budgets.
