"Windows and Siding Group was a joy to work with. This is a project that you hope to do once in a lifetime. From the very start of the process, the team was extremely helpful. They guided us with options and information that helped make the decision easy. They scheduled the work and completed it on-time. The clean-up was impeccable and the job well done. I would recommend Windows and Siding Group as a choice provider to any and all. Great work and at a reasonable price."

"We had the following work performed all coordinated by Austin: new roof, window/door replacement, and siding. In addition to the siding insulation was added and the house wrapped. The work was performed by the following companies: Tilden Roofing, Yellow Dot Constructions (Windows and Doors) and PGG Construction (Siding). Attention to detail was excellent and our expectations were exceeded!"

"Let's see, where do I start? We had our windows replaced last year by Integrity Windows and Siding. We like the company so much, we hired them to replace our old aluminum siding with vinyl siding. They took off all of old stuff, insulated and wrapped the house, installed new siding, gutter, facia and soffat. We are over and beyond pleased with the work. Howard, the owner has a perfect name for his business, 'Integrity'. He is honest, not pushy and returns phone calls immediately. We could not have gone with a better company. Highly recommend!!"

"I couldn’t have been more pleased with the work performed by Berg home improvements. I had received 3-quotes for my project all of which were very similar, Nick Peters was what sold me with Berg, he was very professional, always available to answer questions and provide support, he was a pleasure to work with. The Team that came out to re-side my house did a great thorough job, they seemed to go the extra mile to be sure the job was done right. The Team was continually cleaning as the work progressed, and when the project was completed the job site was clean."

"They were very good. They'll even come back if something happens. One time I had a window that wouldn't close right. They came back and showed me. They really stand behind their work. The other thing was they even match up to the wood so I didn't have to have anything stained. They do good work. They were very good about coming on time. Two different times I've used them. We have a lot of windows in my house so we can't afford to do them all at one time. They're good and they have good quality. They stand behind their stuff."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.

There are a few options to choose from when it comes to shingle siding, including cedar shake, vinyl, and fiber cement. You can get these shingle siding materials in different colors, shapes, and sizes, giving you plenty of room to customize. You can also combine different siding materials and patterns with shingles for a more unique curb appeal.

Fiber cement shingle siding is made from a blend of common ingredients, including cement, sand, water, and wood or cellulose fibers. The composition of the mixture varies depending on the manufacturer, however, with some makers opting to include special additives to improve longevity and resilience, and some include dyes and pigments to create custom colors that don’t require painting.

Homeowners insurance may cover the cost of siding repair or replacement, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage. Most policies will cover damage from a covered event, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, natural disaster, or other impact damage. Your policy might pay for the full or partial cost of the repair or replacement. However, damage resulting from age, general wear and tear, or neglect is typically not covered, and you should expect to pay for those repairs out of pocket. It is best to review your specific homeowners insurance policy for full details on what is covered, how to file a claim, and what documentation is required.

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.
