First Response Drain Service is a locally owned and operated company that was developed to provide businesses and homeowners with professional service that keeps their drainage systems flowing efficiently. We have 5 employees on staff full time and 3-4 part-time employees. All are well groomed and respectful. On occasion subcontractors are used for large scale projects. This allows for proper safety and insurance requirements as we work in conjunction with other top notch contractors. First response Drain Service is owned and operated by a Union trained plumber who spent numerous years learning the trade. This valuable training is applied to our day to day operations and is what sets us apart from other sewer service contractors. "John was here to help take care of a well issue. He and another employee were here less than an hour. We were told by John that our bill wouldn’t be close to $900 and they would bill us. We received a bill for over $800 with a $500 dollar labor charge. When I called and spoke with Travis his reason for the high labor charge was they had to “prepare” the tuck and we were charged labor the minute they started loading their truck to come to our home which is a 15 min drive. Travis was rude and stated he doesn’t care about reviews and he has plenty of other customers . I wouldn’t recommend them for anyone or any job due to their outrageous labor charge. Travis is extremely rude and doesn’t need any more customers according to him so I would recommend taking your business elsewhere."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

Sputtering water and a constant fluctuation of water pressure from your household faucets and fixtures are the main red flags that something bad is brewing with your well pump. The fix could be as simple as restarting the power or priming the pump, especially if the trouble is occurring after a power outage. However, if troubleshooting the power and pressure of your pump does not get things up and running again, it might be time to replace the pump.

If your well water supply suddenly runs dry, it could be due to a faulty pressure switch. A bad pressure switch can affect the pump's operation, leading to a loss of water. Testing the switch to see if it functions correctly is the first step in resolving the issue and restoring your water supply.

If the switch is faulty, it may need to be repaired or replaced. If the issue is more complex and involves other components, consult a professional well technician so they can address the issue and fix the water supply.

Consider replacement if the pump is over 10 years old or has recurring, costly issues.

Some states and municipalities restrict well pump repair and replacement to licensed plumbers and technicians, while others don’t have requirements. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a certified plumber to repair or replace well pumps and water pumps. Certified professionals are far more likely to get the job done correctly and prevent future issues, which is especially important for ensuring access to clean water for your home.

Pressure tanks can last anywhere from five to 15 years, but the life span of your tank depends on a few factors. Lower-quality tanks tend to wear out more quickly than high-end options, and the quality of water and the amount of sediment or rocks from your well can cause premature damage. Overworking an undersized pressure tank can also limit its life span.
