"John was here to help take care of a well issue. He and another employee were here less than an hour. We were told by John that our bill wouldn’t be close to $900 and they would bill us. We received a bill for over $800 with a $500 dollar labor charge. When I called and spoke with Travis his reason for the high labor charge was they had to “prepare” the tuck and we were charged labor the minute they started loading their truck to come to our home which is a 15 min drive. Travis was rude and stated he doesn’t care about reviews and he has plenty of other customers . I wouldn’t recommend them for anyone or any job due to their outrageous labor charge. Travis is extremely rude and doesn’t need any more customers according to him so I would recommend taking your business elsewhere."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

No, a bigger pressure tank has no effect on water pressure. To increase water pressure in your well water, gently adjust the tank’s pressure settings to a higher psi (pounds per square inch). If you’ve already done this, you can swap out your current pump for one with a higher flow rate, measured in gallons per minute (GPM). You can also call a pro to install a water pressure booster pump in your home plumbing system. If you experience fluctuations in water pressure, replace your current tank and pump with a constant pressure system.

It may be time for a well pump replacement if you notice some red flags, like a lack of running water when the pump should be working, consistently poor water pressure, or dirty water, which can indicate potential issues with your pump's functionality.

The precharged pressure tank should start at around 28 psi. The two pressure settings of note are the cut-in and cut-out pressure. The well pump starts when the tank reaches the minimum cut-in pressure. It turns off when the tank reaches the maximum cut-out pressure. The desired water pressure in the household is usually a few psi above the cut-in number. The difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressure settings should be 20 psi. Typical settings for household applications include 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60.

When testing the pressure of your well tank, the psi should be two below the cut-on pressure. For example, if your tank is set to 40/60, then your pressure should be at 38 psi.

When considering the price of drilling a well, factor in how much you’ll save in water costs per year. The average family of four uses 100 gallons of water per person per day in the U.S. With a private water well, you can save hundreds each year.

Wells are also environmentally friendly. You don’t need to worry about drinking water treated with chemicals. Talk to at least three well pump contractors in your area. They’ll be able to tell you more about your options, give you different quotes, and discuss the biggest concerns.
