"I could not be more pleased with Chimney USA. I called for an estimate as my chimney was in need of some tuckpointing and I had to get it done ASAP as the closing on the sale of my house was quickly approaching. Upon the initial appraisal of the repairs, Ms. Garcia (the owner) realized that due to the age of the house, the repairs were going to be more extensive than initially thought and they might not be complete until after the closing date. After an exchange of email and telephone calls, the repairs were done before the closing date and beyond my expectation. The crew worked very hard to finish the job ASAP cleaned up the mess that was made as a result of their working. In all, I couldn't be happier or have asked for more! - thank you for a job well done."

"Miguel promptly returned my call, came to my house, and gave me an estimate. I accepted his estimate and he and Daniel came out the next day and completed the job to my satisfaction. Miguel is a very good brick mason and replaced the shoulders on both sides of my chimney."

"Mario did a detailed inspection and quote. I had three companies bid out the job and he was the only one concerned with the condition of my chimney liner. Turns out the chimney liner was full of holes, potentially a safety issue. If I had hired the other companies that would not have been addressed. Quality of the work was great, always showed up on time and left the job site clean. Main office staff was friendly and easy to get ahold of. If there were any changes they always communicated it ahead of time. The new grout blended in perfectly, chimneys look much better. I also appreciated they offered crown coat, my crowns were in bad shape and look much nicer after using crown coat. They even fixed up some stuff on my brick lamp post."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Take a look at your roof shingles from the ground or from a ladder, and look for cracked or missing shingles, which are the most obvious signs of roof damage. You should also look for pockmarks from hail and blown debris, as well as blisters that could indicate a moisture issue or a problem with the installation. Inside your home, be on the lookout for water spots on the ceilings on your upper floor, as this is a clear sign of a roof leak.

Homeowners insurance can be voided in several scenarios. That can include making too many claims in a short period of time, leaving a home vacant for an extended period of time, renting out a home or room illegally, using a home as a business illegally, and any kind of criminal activity connected to the home.

The easiest way to tell if your roof vent boot is leaking is to look in your attic for signs of water damage. You might see visible moisture, water spots, or mold on the roof decking around the roof vent or damaged or soggy insulation below it. If you don’t have access to your attic or aren’t sure if the vent boot is the issue, hire a professional to come inspect your roof and figure out the underlying issue.

Insurance might cover a 30-year-old roof, but it’s fairly rare. Most companies don’t offer coverage for roofs older than 20 years, but certain robust plans will handle it. However, even if the plan offers coverage for an aged roof, it could be diminished. Many plans only cover the original cost or the actual cash value (ACV) of the roof once enough time has passed. ACV is based on the roof's age and condition at the time of repairs.

In most cases, a roof inspection will include a visual inspection of the exterior roofing materials, an interior inspection for signs of leaking or roof damage, and an assessment of the structural stability of your roof and the materials supporting it. Some things your roof inspector will look for include the following:

  • Missing or damaged shingles, flashing, or sealant

  • Signs of old age

  • Signs of leaks, including mold growth and water stains

  • Potential issues, like tree branches touching your roof

  • Signs of a loss of structural integrity
