They ended up cutting my internet cable and cracking the cement lid to the septic tank with repeated whacks with a sledge hammer to loosen it. They discovered more solid sludge than expected so raised the price to $1250 from the initial $540 estimate. We may not have incurred this extra pain and cost if I pumped the tank every 5 years."
