"Justin and Phil provided me with the best quote for replacing my old water heater. They even diagnosed the problem to fix the thermostat in my water heater and gave me a quote if I wanted to stick with my old water heater. I appreciate that level of transparency. I decided to replace my water heater since it was an old unit. They did a solid job replacing it. My water heater is located in my attic and they handled the job like a pro."

"Update from 20 Jan 2026: I`ve been a repeat customer of Keep Smiling Plumber, Electrical, Heating and Cooling in the past for several home-related repairs. After having an unfortunate experience with Keep Smiling PEHC during my most recent service, I had some misgivings about the company and whether I would return as a customer. In regards to their customer service, everyone that I`ve engaged with (technicians, onsite supervisor, receptionist) has always been professional and courteous which goes a long way with me. The issue that I had was technical in nature and left me with some dissatisfaction regarding the quality of work. After speaking with leadership of this organization Mr. Powell and Ms. Amy ,I believe that they hold the highest standards and expectations for their employees and ensure that any work-related issues are duly addressed/resolved. I can sincerely say that they have regained my confidence and trust in contacting them in the future for my future HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing home needs. The manager I spoke with told me that there wasn`t any way the damage of the pump could come from the technician doing a drain and flush of the water heater. He told me that it would cost $1200 to replace the pump on the water heater. After speaking with the manager at Keep Smiling, I called another company which I`ve seen before in the community and spoke with a plumber and explained to him what happened. The technician at the other company told me that the pump could definitely be damaged if the pump was still plugged up and not turned off while the water heater was being drained and flush. I called the manager at Keep Smiling and shared those details with him and he replied that he understands what I`m saying but there was nothing he could do about it. I told him that I don`t have any reason to lie about any of this and felt very frustrated and cheated by the fact that I went in expecting for them to do a maintenance check for $59 for plumbing but ended up spending a $1000 for new. "The service was very good. They did a good job. The price was very, very affordable. It was hands down in comparison to other competitors. They were very service friendly and they had multiple guys come out and it was really quickly done. We were real happy with their service. The only thing we didn't like was that we wanted to have a tankless water heater installed in our house and they don't do that kind of work. They said they had to have special training. My problem is that I still can't get enough hot water in our house to meet all our shower needs. I still kind of want to go that route. They are pricey. We thought the work they did would correct our problem and we can tell a difference but it still isn't heating the water up like we had hoped it would. We understood that the water has to heat up and no matter what we do it won't solve the problem. My experience went them was excellent. They were older guys that came out and they have been doing it for 30 years. We haven’t had any problems with the leak they fixed."

"Estes has been providing my service for approximately 10 years. Always prompt, courteous and very accommodating. They recently (June 2019) replaced my hot water heater and installed new HVAC system. An awesome crew performed the installation and was very thorough in explaining all of the new components to me. Also the gentleman who came to my home when the unit needed replacing was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and insured that all of my questions and concerns were addressed before he left."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can replace a current tank water heater with a tankless model or vice versa. If you’re maintaining the same fuel source—gas or electricity—the switchover should be smooth. A conventional tank requires open floor space, while a tankless model can be wall-mounted. If you’re switching to a tank water heater, you might need to clear space for it. Gas-powered tankless water heaters need a large volume of gas when they start running to heat the water instantly. You might need to increase the size of the gas line when going from a tank to a tankless model.

Electric water heaters typically last 10 to 20 years, though proper maintenance can extend their lifespan. If your unit is over a decade old and showing signs of inefficiency—such as higher energy bills, frequent repairs, or leaks—replacement is a smart investment. Tankless models last over 20 years, which can make them a longer-lasting alternative to traditional tank water heaters.

Price variations arise from size, type (tankless or tank), efficiency grades, and installation complexity, including labor and materials.

Several things can void the warranty for your water heater. Many water heater manufacturers state that installing your own will void the warranty. However, even if you get away with performing the task yourself, incorrect installation, lack of a building permit, and improper repair work, regardless of licensing status, can all render your water heater unprotected by both the manufacturer's warranty and any installation warranties.

Flushing biannually, checking the anode rod, and temperature settings maximize equipment lifespan while reducing surprise costs.
