"Outstanding. I noticed the other day that my front porch light had dropped out of the recessed receptacle and was hanging by its wires. I quickly contacted several electricians from Angie's list and only heard back from two of them. Both were pleasant and helpful. One could not get to me for about 7-9 days. The other (Phaze Electric) had me on their schedule the next day. Jerome showed up early and quickly assessed what was needed. He obtained the necessary part from Lowe's and was back in a flash to remove the old housing and install the new one. I also used Phaze Electric a couple of years ago to hang ceiling fans on my back porch and they did an excellent job then, too. Phaze Electric will be the company I call in the future for all my electrical needs. I trust them to do a great job at a reasonable price."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Winter Park, always shut off power at the breaker before addressing minor electrical issues, and use insulated tools to account for the area’s humidity. You can safely replace light bulbs, test GFCI outlets, and clean outdoor fixtures. Before storm season, check surge protectors and emergency lighting. Avoid working on main panels or during storms—outdoor electrical safety is especially important in this climate, so call a professional for complex concerns.

Helpful?

After electrical projects in Winter Park, test all GFCI outlets monthly and monitor new circuits for unusual heat. Ensure outdoor installations are weatherproofed to withstand humidity and storms. Update your home’s electrical diagrams and secure outdoor equipment before hurricane season. Inspect for storm damage regularly, and schedule annual inspections—especially in homes over 20 years old—to maintain system reliability and support long-term storm damage prevention.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Winter Park, keep a non-contact voltage tester, GFCI outlet tester, insulated screwdrivers, and a digital multimeter handy. Due to frequent storms and high humidity, weatherproof electrical tape, corrosion-resistant junction boxes, and surge protectors are essential. Stock up on waterproof enclosures and portable generator accessories for hurricane preparedness, and consider outdoor-rated extension cords for safe outdoor electrical safety during storm season.

Helpful?

In Winter Park, flickering lights during storms, repeated GFCI tripping, or outlets that feel warm often indicate electrical issues, especially in older homes with aging wiring. If your lights dim when the AC kicks on, it may be an HVAC concern. Power loss affecting multiple homes could signal a utility problem. Persistent or unclear issues should be evaluated by a professional familiar with local storm damage prevention.

Helpful?

Signs in Winter Park that previous electrical work may need redone include corrosion on outdoor outlets, water damage after storms, or repeated breaker trips. Outdated or missing GFCI protection, poor grounding, and overloaded circuits are common in older homes. If you notice deteriorating wires, non-functioning outlets after heavy rain, or exposed connections, these are strong indicators that a local expert should reassess the work for code compliance.
