"Outstanding. I noticed the other day that my front porch light had dropped out of the recessed receptacle and was hanging by its wires. I quickly contacted several electricians from Angie's list and only heard back from two of them. Both were pleasant and helpful. One could not get to me for about 7-9 days. The other (Phaze Electric) had me on their schedule the next day. Jerome showed up early and quickly assessed what was needed. He obtained the necessary part from Lowe's and was back in a flash to remove the old housing and install the new one. I also used Phaze Electric a couple of years ago to hang ceiling fans on my back porch and they did an excellent job then, too. Phaze Electric will be the company I call in the future for all my electrical needs. I trust them to do a great job at a reasonable price."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Maitland, outdoor electrical systems like pool equipment, landscape lighting, and exterior outlets often require frequent attention due to humidity and storms. Indoors, kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms are high-use areas prone to electrical wear from moisture and heavy appliances. Attics and garages may also develop issues from heat or pests. Regular inspections and maintenance help keep these areas safe and functional.

Helpful?

Maitland homes often have concrete block walls and slab-on-grade foundations, which can make running new wiring more complex. If your home has additions, split-levels, or detached buildings, these features may require extra planning for electrical work. Before hiring an electrician, review your floor plan and note any unique features, such as mature landscaping or tight attic spaces, that could affect installation access.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Maitland should start with a comprehensive electrical panel inspection to ensure it can handle modern appliances. Upgrading to GFCI outlets in wet areas, installing interconnected smoke detectors, and adding surge protection are smart steps for safety. Consider adding outdoor outlets, dedicated circuits for ceiling fans, and a generator transfer switch to improve comfort and reliability in Florida’s storm-prone climate.

Helpful?

In Maitland, missing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, or outdoor areas suggest outdated wiring that doesn’t meet current code. Watch for aluminum wiring, older electrical panels, or cloth-wrapped wires—these are common in older homes and can pose safety risks. Corrosion from humidity, moisture near electrical panels, or evidence of pest damage are also warning signs that a professional electrical inspection is needed.

Helpful?

In Maitland, electrical project timelines vary based on your home’s age and layout. For example, panel upgrades typically take 1–2 days, while whole-house rewiring may require 3–7 days, especially in older homes. GFCI outlet installation usually takes 2–4 hours per room. Permit approval, weather delays, and scheduling with a licensed electrical contractor can also impact your project’s overall completion time.
