Are you trying to decide if refinishing your bathtub, shower or sink is better than replacing it with a new one? Well that would depend on how much work, time and money you are willing to spend. After adding in the cost of a new tub or shower, the labor to remove the old one, replacing any broken tiles, the clean up after removing it, installing the new one, and finally the cleanup after everything is completed, you could have just refinished it for a fraction of the cost.

They have remodeled our entire kitchen (removed our whole old kitchen and replaced it with a brand new kitchen including appliances, exhaust, backsplash, etc) - it looks perfect, which I NEVER say. I have no conflict of interest....I am tired of contractors who don't do a good job so when I found Dwight, I was ecstatic. He would have to charge me extra to make it lighter! I’ve been had, no doubt, but this is the last I’ll ever have to do with this company. DO NOT RECOMMEND (Second picture shows original grout line in pantry- only part of my floor he didn’t touch. You can see a clear difference between the original grout and what the “expert” did). Refinishing a bathtub is a project you can do at the same time as refinishing a porcelain sink. If your tub is the same age as your sink, consider getting a quote. Most homeowners spend about $480 on the cost of refinishing a bathtub, but it ranges between $335 and $630, depending on the size, style, and material of the tub.

Even at the lowest setting, there’s always a risk that pressure washing might damage your shower or tub. Never use this technique if there’s pre-existing damage in your shower or tub, like peeling caulk, sealant, or cracked tiles. And skip this method entirely if there are any wood features present.

It is worth it to refinish a bathtub if your current tub is in good shape. Refinishing your tub can remove scratches from wear and tear, cover blemishes and stains, and fill small cracks. However, consider replacing your tub if it’s severely damaged, has large cracks, or leaks.

When it comes to cleaning bathrooms, bleach usually comes to mind. But like ammonia, bleach can damage acrylic tubs. In fact, many tub manufacturers warn against using bleach on acrylic bathtubs, and doing so could void the warranty on your tub. Again, a gentler cleaner specifically made for acrylic tubs, or one of the homemade methods listed above, is your better bet here.
