All the window treatments were sent directly to our home. The installer called to set up a time to come and install. He said he would be here between 3-5 and it was closer to 5pm when he arrived. He was very organized, neat, methodical and installed the window treatments without further criticisms. We are a recycling family, so his request for a garbage bag, was ignored and all cardboard went into recycling and other packaging materials went into our "family garbage can" for disposal the next day. Extra screws, rubber bands and etc. were recycled for future projects instead of put into the garbage. He did not offer to take the waste with him and I figured that if he was asking for a garbage bag, we would be responsible for disposal.
Home depot came back to us after we accepted their offer of one price for all window treatments to be installed wanting to charge us $50.00 extra to install the "difficult" kitchen sliding glass door blinds/sheers that we chose after this installer visited and measured. (We had told him what we were ordering and he was frank and told us that these blinds/sheers were extremely difficult to install). Since the blinds/sheers were already ordered, after a "satisfaction" note to the manager, the manager agreed that all 6 window treatments would be installed for the price in the offer we accepted (no $50.00 extra).
The installer ran into some trouble with installing the window treatments in our kitchen because the horizontal bracing across the sliding glass doors was not where it should have been. He had to use extra long screws which he carried on his truck. He did need to use white gloves to install the vertical blinds/sheers in the kitchen. He did not vacuum the wall dust after he finished his work on any of the windows. I would use him again for instillation because he is very good at installing. However, I would not have him come out ever again when my husband is home-especially if my husband had been involved in the window treatment selection process. This installer should be told to keep his opinions about customer's selections to himself. Home Depot employees need to honor their deals/offers and make installers honor their deals. They should not be coming back to ask for more money after the deal/offer was accepted.
MOLDED INTERIOR DOORS SLAB ONLY GAVE THE SIZE AND A NAME I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE "PRINCETON." I THOUGHT THIS WAS REALLY ODD, BECAUSE NOWHERE ON MY ON-LINE PRINTED COPIES DID IT SAY THE DOORS WERE CALLED PRINCETON. I STUPIDLY ASSUMED ALL WAS WELL.
MY DOORS CAME AND THEY WERE 2 PANELLED DOORS. I WANTED THE DOOR HANDLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TWO PANELS. HOWEVER, THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR IS ONLY 291/2 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM. A "NORMAL" DOOR HANDLE IS 36 INCHES ON A DOOR. THIS LOCATION IS 6 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE FIRST PANEL AND ISN'T VERY APPEALING TO ME OR MY FAMILY. I HAD NO IDEA WHERE A DOOR HANDLE IS PLACED(INCHES) TILL YESTERDAY WHEN MY CONTRACTOR POINTED IT OUT TO ME. IN FACT HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH AN ODD PLACEMENT OF THE PANELS.
I WENT TO HOME DEPOT TO RETURN THESE DOORS. I DIDN'T HAVE THE DOORS WITH ME BUT I WENT WITH MY PAPERWORK AND ASKED THEM TO PICK UP THE DOORS ( I DON'T HAVE ANY WAY TO RETURN THEM) AND I OFFERED TO PAY THEM. THEY TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE A RE-STOCKING FEE ALSO. THE RETURNS PERSON SAID SHE WOULD CALL ME LATER IN THE DAY WITH MORE INFORMATION. MUCH LATER IN THE DAY SHE CALLED AND SAID BECAUSE THIS WAS A "SPECIAL ORDER" THAT HER MANAGER WOULD HAVE TO CALL ME. I WAITED ALL DAY TILL AFTER 5PM AND THEN I CALLED THE STORE. THEY SAID THE MANAGER HAD STEPPED OUT AND WHEN HE CAME IN THEY WOULD TELL HIM TO CALL ME. NOW IT IS AROUND 7 PM AND I CALLED AGAIN, I WAS PUT ON HOLD AND HUNG UP ON. I CALLED AGAIN AND NOW THE MANAGER I SPOKE TO SAID POINT BLANK "THEY COULDN'T TAKE THE DOORS BACK BECAUSE THEY WERE "SPECIAL ORDER DOORS." I ASKED HIM WHAT WAS MAKING THESE DOORS "SPECIAL ORDER DOORS ? HE SAID ANYTHING YOU ORDER ON-LINE THAT ISN'T STOCKED IN THEIR STORE IS CONSIDERED A "SPECIAL ORDER" AND THEREFORE NOT RETURNABLE. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 90 DAY RETURN POLICY ON ALL THE COPIES OF MY PAPERWORK ? I HAVE HAD THESE DOORS LESS THAN A MONTH, WAITING FOR MY CONTRACTOR. I WOULD LIKE HOME DEPOT TO HONOR THEIR 90 DAY RETURN POLICY THAT IS STATED RIGHT ON THE INTERNET. IT DOESN'T SAY IT IS NOT RETURNABLE IF YOU BUY IT ON-LINE. OR DID THE SALESPERSON PULL A FAST ONE ON EVERYONE AND "SPECIAL ORDER" DOORS SIMILAR TO THE DOORS I REQUESTED? DOES SHE GET A BONUS FOR SPECIAL ORDERS ?
Throughout this process Home Depot has not done a good job of communication or taking immediate corrective steps without me calling over there times. I was planning on replacing kitchen cabinets, installing granite counter tops and new appliances, but now will I will reevaluate. I have used Home Depot flooring in 3 houses and the process always went smoothly. .......
Only problem was with Home Depot sales people in getting information on items on backorders and pickup of the materials.
