"The quote was given on date and time promised, and they came in significantly cheaper than the two other companies with a Certified Arborist from whom I obtained quote. Work was done great, including clean-up. Would not hesitate to hire them again."

"We hired Rowland & Sons Tree Service to grind a huge tree stump and then level the area were the stump was and we could not be more pleased with their work. They arrived on time, were very friendly, and provided excellent customer service. We had a team of three (mom, dad, and son) who worked together to get the job done. In addition to grinding and leveling we asked them to save the soil/sawdust which they did happily and placed it in containers which we provided. They saved our sod which we easily replanted. I highly recommend Rowland & Sons for this type of work."

"Experience tree Service did an excellent job on removing two Stumps from my yard! One of the Stumps was very large with exposed roots going out way past the Stump. Everything was ground down below grade and smoothed out. They have the right equipment to do a professional Job! Highly recommended."

"Today Outdoor Experts LLC (Tree Trimming etc) trimmed our queen palm, and the overhang branches from another tree near our mailbox. They did a very good job, working quickly, efficiently, and they cleaned everything up when the work was completed."

"The AAP Landscaping team were polite, energetic and very professional. They listened to what I wanted, offered advise, and did an outstanding job in a great timeframe. I would definitely have AAP Landscaping do all my future tree trimming and also refer them. Outstanding work!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

Generally, you’ll want to avoid pruning more than 25% of the tree’s canopy at one time. While pruning your tree is important, it’s possible to do it too often or to go too far. Again, this is why hiring a tree trimming pro to do the work is wise. However, if you do decide to DIY, going slow and trimming gradually is the name of the game.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.
