"The Award Tree service showed up on time and did an excellent job cutting down a dead palm tree. They did the job immediately. The crew did a great job cleaning up and removing all debris. Next morning they returned with a stump grinder to complete the job. I would hire Award Tree Service anytime I need tree work an recommend them to anyone looking for fast, efficient and reasonably priced tree service."

Small jobs welcome

"Good experience. Fast, professional and a price that was well below all the other competetors. Plus he actually did the right thing and checked on permit and got arborist to write a letter (all for no additional fee). I'm running out of trees, but if I need any more trimming, J Macias is definitely who I'm calling. (Remove one large laurel okay, major trim to second large laurel oak -- $2800)"

"Man what a great job Mr Parker did with his crew. Showed up the date and time we set up. His crew did a great job ,clearing the tree ,and putting it in the median. This was a storm damaged tree. I will hire him again. He also gave a quote for another damaged tree."

Customers say: Quality work

"Alex and his crew were amazing. We had some tree removal and trimming work done. My wife was worried about the clean up, thinking she would have a lot to clean up. But they did a fabulous job. Would definitely recommend Alex and his crew."

"I can easily recommend Gold Palm Solutions if you need tree removal. I was quite satisfied with their price. I did have them include stump grinding. Of course, the cleanup was excellent. I also had them secure a Shady Lady tree for me so I could get that in the ground. Although a separate contract for me several days after the tree removal, I was glad to have them make a wise decision on the perfect tree. They brought it, installed it, and really took care throughout the process. I was once again impressed with their skills. Most of my interactions were with Alex and Jay. I can only say I enjoyed working with them. They are both personable and were willing to answer my numerous questions. They seemed genuinely interested in being sure I was satisfied with everything. I appreciated this a lot. If you are looking for an honest, fair, skilled tree removal service and/or related services, I'd recommend giving them a call."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

Most trees can be successfully transplanted while they are young, but pines, walnuts, and some oak tree varieties are more difficult to move because their root systems grow deeper than most other trees. Also, trees adapted to sandy soil with wide root systems like beeches, willows, and aspens are harder to dig out because their roots spread much farther out from the trunk. In these cases, unless the trees are very young and small, it’s a good idea to consult a tree planting professional.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.
