"CAPPS ROOFING!! Having never had a roof replaced we thought everyone had the same experience as we did. Wrong. Our entire roof was replaced in 4 days, the crew showed up Monday, just as Mr. Capps said they would, and clean up was done Thursday afternoon. A neighbor is in the 2nd week of their roof being replaced. Great communication throughout the process, our calls were always answered or returned quickly. We Love Our Roof. Jeff & Judi K"

"I had a Gable roof and attached Flat roof replaced on my house. This was the way the house was originally built. The insurance company only wanted to Shingle the Gable roof and not the flat. I tried to explain to them that the problem started with the standing water on the flat roof that got blown up into the shingle roof area. I had paid another roofer to fix it. He just laid more plywood on the old and resealed it. Then another storm came two years later and wind damaged the rest of the shingle roof. 123 Roofs, (Jeff and Jon). said they couldn't do one without the other. They took it upon themselves to deal with our insurance company, so I did not have to stress about any of it. I went on vacation, left Jeff with a way to get into the house and he sent me over a dozen pictures as they removed the old and replaced with the new. Great Job! I returned home to a new roof. Didnâ  t have to worry about anything. I am glad we found them. They did a wonderful job. I could not be happier about this whole project."

"I was very pleased with Aastro Roofing. In 2016 they repaired a roof leak after many failed attempts by other companies. This years I I decided to get a new roof so I hired them. The work was done in a timely manner. The roofing crew did a great job and I am exceptionally pleased with the outcome. Everything went perfectly smooth. Thnks Aastro. Highly recommend."

"Michael gave me a quote for cleaning my roof over the phone and then came to the house to make sure the roof didn't need any additional repairs. I hired them and a crew was sent over a couple of days later. I was expecting the roof to look good after it was cleaned. However, I was absolutely amazed after the job was completed. It looks like a brand new roof. Michael's crew did an awesome job. I would highly recommend using this company for any roof job."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

EPDM roofing is a single-ply roofing material made of rubber, and a professional will install it in a single sheet and seal the seams. Built-up roofing (BUR) consists of multiple layers made from asphalt, adhesives, and roofing felt. A professional will construct the layers of BUR on-site. EPDM is easier to repair and has better resistance to extreme temperatures, while BUR is more fire-resistant and affordable.

Roof vents are an essential part of a roof, as they promote energy efficiency by keeping warm, humid air at bay. The roofing material, especially asphalt shingles, will not last as long as it should (about half of its manufacture life) if the attic is not ventilated. Also, going without ventilation means having a warm attic that demands more from your air conditioning system (and your wallet, once the bills come). Ridge vents and roof vents also prevent a host of other icky moisture-related problems like rot, mold, and mildew.

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.

Venting a gas water heater out of the roof is preferable in most cases. Heated exhaust gases naturally rise, so a vertical vent pipe is efficient. If you’re trying to vent through a pipe exiting a wall, the angle of the pipe may be more horizontal than vertical, making the venting system less effective. If you go through a wall, you may need to add a fan to ensure a successful expulsion of the gases outdoors.

Yes, it’s possible to replace drip edge flashing without removing shingles, but it’s not a good idea. You’ll have to lift the bottom shingles up to remove the old drip edge, install the new material, and then lay the lifted roofing material over the new drip edge. Bending roof shingles can cause damage, and if you have ongoing issues with roof leaks that prompt drip edge replacement, it’s a good idea to consider a roof and drip edge replacement to avoid ongoing issues.
