"Code Red Roofers were excellent in replacing my roof. They were timely, neat, responsive, reasonable and my metal roof came out great just as they promised. No, you do not need gable vents if you have a ridge vent. In fact, gable vents would actually interrupt the process that ridge vents are set to conduct. You would be better off to decide between the two depending on your home’s needs.

Gaps between tiles are necessary to help with weatherproofing, allow for thermal expansion, and increase wind resistance. In general, a small gap no larger than 3 millimeters wide will encourage proper drainage and limit cracking. Beyond that, tiles should overlap a minimum of 3 inches, except at the eaves where they should extend to the center of the gutter.

You can install solar panels on a flat or pitched roof, but keep in mind that they will need to rest at a 30- to 50-degree tilt for optimal sun absorption. It costs more to install solar panels on a flat roof because you will need to install a framing system and likely hire a structural engineer.
