In the mid 1980's, the company founder started a small cabinet sales business from a showroom in Naples. In 1988, it was incorporated as Kitchen Kabinets & Kounters. After eleven years of steady sales and supply of cabinetry to some of Naples up and coming home builders, he decided it was time to make it a family business. In 1998, he brought one of his son's into the company with an agreement to allow him to develop the company through automation and manufacturing and ultimately buy the company. They agreed to add his other son in 2000. At the same time, the owners created a separate company devoted to countertop fabrication (specifically solid surface materials) and called it Solid Surface Solutions, Inc. This company focused on supply of countertops to competitors in the cabinet business, as well as supplying all the Corian® countertops to their own company, Kitchen Kabinets & Kounters, Inc. With ownership considerations the same and an overlap of clients, it was logical to change the original corporate name to Stevens Industries International, Inc and combine the Solid Surface Solutions, Inc under this corporation. When completed in 2001, the company now expanded offerings to high-rise and commercial development. With dba(s) for Kitchen Kabinets & Kounters and Solid Surface Solutions, the company moved forward as separate divisions of operations.
