"Dealing with Elcon Electric was truly a pleasure. First, the scheduling department had John come to our home at a time that was convenient to us. He arrived as promised and clearly ran through the estimate, permitting process and FPL's involvement. He went on to mention that it would likely be necessary to cutout a portion of the drywall that we would be responsible for replacing. Fortunately, the additional cutout was not required. Over the course of the next several weeks, the scheduling and permitting department kept us informed of the estimated installation date. Once confirmed, Roman, the electrician, arrived as scheduled, performed the installation flawlessly and left our home in perfect condition with a brand new electrical panel. Would definitely hire again and recommend to our friends and relatives."

"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

"Robles Electrical Services did an amazing job on our electrical panel upgrade. They were professional, on time, and explained everything clearly from start to finish. The work was clean, efficient, and done with great attention to detail. They made sure everything was safe, up to code, and working perfectly before leaving. It’s hard to find honest and reliable electricians, but they definitely exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Robles Electrical Services for anyone needing electrical work done!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Okeechobee, keep a digital multimeter, GFCI tester, and insulated screwdrivers ready. Store weatherproof outlet covers, marine-grade electrical tape, and surge protectors to handle local humidity and storms. Having spare wire nuts, contact cleaner, and a portable generator transfer switch kit is smart, especially before hurricane season. Always keep supplies in a dry, elevated area to prevent moisture damage.

Helpful?

Address sparking outlets, exposed wiring after storms, or GFCI failures in Okeechobee right away, as these pose urgent safety risks. Fix flickering lights or frequent breaker trips within a few days, especially during high AC use. Cosmetic updates or non-essential outlet replacements can wait. Before hurricane season, prioritize surge protection and generator readiness to ensure your home remains safe and functional.

Helpful?

In Okeechobee, persistent moisture can cause outlets to feel warm, show green or white corrosion, or emit a musty odor—early warnings of bigger problems. Flickering lights when running air conditioning, frequent GFCI trips after rain, or buzzing from panels can signal underlying issues. After heavy storms, look for burnt smells or discoloration near panels, which may indicate surge or water damage needing immediate attention.

Helpful?

In Okeechobee, neglecting to use dehumidifiers, running multiple high-powered appliances on the same circuit during humid months, and leaving extension cords plugged in outdoors can all strain your electrical system. Not resetting or testing GFCI outlets after storms, skipping surge protection during frequent lightning, and failing to seal outdoor outlets against moisture are habits that can accelerate electrical wear in this climate.

Helpful?

Always shut off the breaker and verify power is off with a voltage tester before any electrical work in Okeechobee. You can safely test GFCI outlets, replace faceplates, or install surge protectors on dry days using insulated tools. If you notice any dampness, corrosion, or need to work near outdoor or pool areas, stop immediately and contact a licensed local electrician to avoid safety risks.
