"Dealing with Elcon Electric was truly a pleasure. First, the scheduling department had John come to our home at a time that was convenient to us. He arrived as promised and clearly ran through the estimate, permitting process and FPL's involvement. He went on to mention that it would likely be necessary to cutout a portion of the drywall that we would be responsible for replacing. Fortunately, the additional cutout was not required. Over the course of the next several weeks, the scheduling and permitting department kept us informed of the estimated installation date. Once confirmed, Roman, the electrician, arrived as scheduled, performed the installation flawlessly and left our home in perfect condition with a brand new electrical panel. Would definitely hire again and recommend to our friends and relatives."

"Rick was very professional and knowledgeable. We had purchased a electric car and needed a charging station in the garage. Installation went smoothly and looks nice. While here we asked Rick to have a look at our swimming pool electric panel (its 35 years old) they need up replacing our panel and adding electrical outlets in our backyard. Thank you GREAT company!"

"Did two projects; first one was to get a floor outlet out of the floor (glued in) and get it working. That was pretty reasonable at $85 for electrical work, although only took a few minutes. Second job was install of 2 ceiling exhaust fans/lights in bath. Work good, although put one in facing incorrectly and felt could have been a lot neater to prevent so much dust when removing old fixtures. Overall, work good and would use again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Palm City homes, electrical updates can impact interconnected systems like HVAC, pool pumps, or smart home devices, especially if circuits are shared or panels are older. If you notice multiple systems losing power together or see shared neutral wires, it’s a sign your project could affect more than one area. Reviewing your panel’s circuit map before starting helps prevent unexpected disruptions.

Helpful?

In Palm City, homeowners often overlook using weatherproof materials outdoors and forget to install GFCI outlets near pools or patios, risking safety in the humid climate. Skipping whole-home surge protection is another frequent error, given Florida’s lightning risks. Not addressing aluminum wiring with proper connectors or failing to secure required permits from local authorities can lead to code violations and potential hazards.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Palm City, keep moisture-resistant electrical tape, corrosion-resistant wire connectors, and a digital multimeter handy—these help address the area’s humidity and salt air. A non-contact voltage tester, insulated screwdrivers, and a reliable flashlight are essential, especially during storm season. If your home has older aluminum wiring, stock up on approved anti-oxidant compounds and connectors specifically rated for aluminum-to-copper transitions.

Helpful?

For electrical work in Palm City, choose THWN-2 or XHHW wire for moisture resistance, and use stainless steel or bronze fasteners to prevent corrosion from salt air. Outdoor projects should include weatherproof enclosures rated for local conditions and UV-resistant conduit. Installing whole-house surge protectors and AFCI/GFCI breakers is highly recommended to safeguard your home against frequent storms and electrical surges.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical contractors in Palm City, prioritize those with experience handling hurricane preparation, pool and spa wiring, and older home upgrades. Confirm they understand the latest Florida Building Code updates and local permitting processes. Ask about their insurance for storm-related incidents and request references from Palm City residents. A reputable pro should clearly explain safety measures and offer guidance tailored to the coastal climate.
