"Overall installation went really well. Karl constantly shows ingenuity on any project he works on. He seems to be able to look at a picture and easily re-create it. For example: I handed him 2 newel posts a 8 foot piece of base molding, an 8 foot 5" wide piece of MDF, some bead board, a side panel and a base kitchen cabinet... and he built a beautiful kitchen island. Bottom line- you give him the materials and the idea and he will bring it to life. On top of everything else, Karl is sincere, honest and shows up as promised. He is definitely the exception among your usual lot of South Florida contractors.

"Tony from Tony Handyman has completed many jobs for me over the last five years. He has always been on time, honest and reasonably priced. Tony has done exterior home painting, dishwasher removal and replacement, removal of old shower silicone and application of new silicone, flange replacements on toilets, leak/water damage repair on ceiling, garage door track repairs, exterior electrical outlet replacements and other small jobs that most contractors wouldn’t want to do and he has completed the work at a fair price. I recommend using Tony Handyman. He is honest, reliable and fair."

"I purchased one of the Angie's List specials ($125 for 2 hours of licensed electrical contractor) in order to repair my garage lights that didn't work.  The electrician Blakeslee sent out was on time, got right to work, and found and fixed the problem with lots of time to spare.  Since we had extra time he went out to the panel, inspected everything, tightened up all the connections, and made sure that everything was in good working order.  He also answered some questions I had for future projects.
About the only negative I can think of is that I had to call their office a few days after purchasing the certificate.  They did not contact me as it states when you buy the certificate here.  Once I got them on the phone they scheduled the appointment right away.  All in all, just a minor hiccup on an otherwise very good experience."

"Had some outdoor work done, primarily our outdoor kitchen remodeled and Wow! Couldn't be happier with the service and the time it took to get done. I price hunted for over a month and felt was getting over charged by everyone until I landed with this service. Spoke to Ryan at Bean, he had the team pay a visit and smooth sailing from there on. I'll be in contact soon so we can redo the inside kitchen too. Thanks again!"

"Titan was very responsive with the water remediation, getting the estimates to the insurance company and putting together a remodeling plan. They were very involved in the process and made an easy transition into the rebuilding part of the process. We are currenting in the rebuild and everything is going great. They pay attention to all the details."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.
