"We had been having some serious electrical issues for a while. Not realizing the severity of the situation until our entire house started flickering and our panel would sizzle, spark and arc when next to it. We grew concerned as the panel was located on the outside wall connected to our daughters room. We did some research and found out that all of our lines would need to be brought up to 2020 MID code and required 30 ft. of underground trenching, making us responsible for all of the fees associated. We called a bunch of electrical companies that didn't even want to take our job because of how big of an undertaking it was. We then came across Del Rio Electric and their amazing reviews. I called and Rick answered right away, he introduced himself as the owner which was impressive to us given the current times and how busy he was! We told him we were underground and he knew exactly what we were talking about and told us exactly what needed to be done as our job requires a lot of patience. He stayed on the phone with us for over 30 mins giving us reassurance and that in itself made me feel like we were ready to decide to move forward with the process. We chose to replace our entire panel because of how bad of shape our 50 year old Zinsco panel was burnt up. His pricing is the best in town and the estimate did not change, and he was 100% open and honest! As we waited for the 1-800 Dig process, and MID inspection process to move forward he kept us in the loop and was very transparent about the timeline as we had to follow protocol. He even sent us all the permit approvals as he received them keeping us well informed. He even temporarily fixed the main breaker that was melted to the panel to fix the power until the panel replacement. As soon as Rick got the approval to be able to start digging our trench, they were out that next morning at 7am! We were met by Rick and Nick, and man did they work hard. That dirt was so hard and they chipped away at it until they were 39 inches deep and 30 feet long with this trenching to lay the new conduit. They never once complained, always smiling and so sweet. To say we appreciate them is just not enough. Once the trenching and inspections were done he let us know right away we were clear for panel replacement. We planned to be gone for three days as power had to be cut to put in the panel. It was done in less that 2 days. Most of that was waiting for MID inspection scheduling. Their work was impeccable and very clean. The new 200 amp panel is amazing and we are forever grateful! Thank you so much Rick and Nick for all you did for our family. Highly recommend this company for all your electrical needs."

"Did two projects; first one was to get a floor outlet out of the floor (glued in) and get it working. That was pretty reasonable at $85 for electrical work, although only took a few minutes. Second job was install of 2 ceiling exhaust fans/lights in bath. Work good, although put one in facing incorrectly and felt could have been a lot neater to prevent so much dust when removing old fixtures. Overall, work good and would use again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Jensen Beach, overloading outlets with multiple appliances, ignoring tripped GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, and skipping surge protection during frequent storms can all harm your electrical system. Using indoor extension cords outside, letting salt air corrode outdoor fixtures, and not cleaning outdoor outlets regularly can also cause premature wear. Regularly check for humidity-related corrosion to keep your system reliable.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Jensen Beach are prioritizing smart home upgrades like automated lighting controls, remote monitoring for vacation properties, and efficient smart thermostats. Outdoor living spaces are enhanced with weather-resistant landscape lighting, pool and spa electrical upgrades, and dedicated outlets for outdoor kitchens. Energy efficiency is a top trend, with LED lighting, solar-ready wiring, and whole-house generator setups becoming increasingly common for storm preparedness.

Helpful?

In Jensen Beach, always turn off power at the breaker before replacing bulbs or resetting GFCI outlets. You can safely use an outlet tester to check for basic wiring problems, but avoid any work involving exposed wires or the main electrical panel. Due to frequent storms, never handle electrical issues during wet weather. For any flickering lights, burning smells, or storm-related damage, contact a licensed local electrician.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Jensen Beach should first ensure their electrical panel meets current safety standards and install whole-house surge protection to guard against frequent storms. Upgrading to GFCI outlets in kitchens, baths, and outdoor areas is essential. Consider marine-grade outdoor fixtures, energy-saving LED lighting, and smart thermostats. Adding ceiling fans, outdoor lighting, and generator connections will boost comfort and storm readiness, all while complying with local codes.

Helpful?

To protect your Jensen Beach home, start each spring by checking outdoor outlets and fixtures for salt or moisture damage. In summer, monitor your electrical panel for signs of overheating and inspect pool or spa wiring monthly. After hurricane season, look for wind or water intrusion in all electrical areas. Winter is ideal for deep cleaning panels and scheduling professional inspections to address any issues before humidity rises.
