"This installation matched up with flooring throughout the rest of our home. He did an outstanding job. He was highly professional, hardworking and creative. His attention to detail is exceptional, including custom capping of Base Shoe Moulding so that there were no raw or unpainted edges. He fashions these end caps himself. He is simply excellent, tireless, focused and talented. Most of all, he loves what he does. That dedication to craft makes him outstanding."

"Outstanding workmanship and customer service. Taylor was very responsive and extremely helpful from start to finish. Helped us decide on the perfect product (when there's so many options out there!) for our design and family needs, and color matching the wood from our stairs to match the new install. We removed old carpet to replace with engineered hardwood, and Taylor was able to tighten the nails under the floor to help alleviate some of the "creaky" sounds that were previously driving us nuts before laying the new floors. He was efficient, always on time, and very accommodating when trying to schedule. Always over and above, and the end result was just stunning. Extremely pleased. Highly recommend Bold City Flooring."

"They did an excellent job. The technician was a real craftsman. The re-wiring, installing a pocket door, and tile work were all very well done. This is the second time I have used them (last time was several years ago to install a wood floor), and it was an excellent job. I would highly recommend them."

"Very professional. I highly recommend MN flooring. The floor looks AMAZING and so beautiful. The attention to detail is on point on every aspect. They are very meticulous clean, always left the area also very clean for the next day. They had done demo and prep the area for the installation of LVT. The prep was perfectly done so there is no ramps, gaps or transitions. I love my floor!"

"I got quotes from several flooring contractors before choosing Simply Honest Flooring, and I’m really glad I did. Matt was knowledgeable, honest, and never made me feel pressured. He took the time to answer my questions, explain my options, and made the whole process easy. The installation of our luxury vinyl plank (LVP) floors turned out great. The crew was professional, showed up when they said they would, and the finished floor looks fantastic. If you’re looking for a flooring company that’s reliable, communicates well, and does quality work, I highly recommend Simply Honest Flooring."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Common problems with laminate flooring include surface-level scratches, dents, warping, and separating seams. Scratches can be caused by dragging heavy items like furniture or from not using a mat under rolling office chairs. Dents can occur from regular wear and tear or from dropping heavy objects on the floor. Most of these issues can be prevented with regular cleaning and moisture control, and many are fairly easy to fix for a beginner DIYer.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

It’s better to lift and set down furniture; sliding it across the floor is more likely to cause damage to both the floor and the furniture itself. For very heavy items, consider using a dolly with rubber wheels. It is possible to purchase sliders designed specifically for gliding furniture across floors, but you still risk causing permanent damage to flooring if you use them.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.

Yes, your kitchen flooring should extend under your dishwasher. It is essential for creating a level and stable surface for the appliance and preventing moisture from seeping into the subflooring, which is costly to repair. Working with a kitchen contractor will ensure the new flooring accounts for the height of the dishwasher so it sits under the countertop properly without any glaring gaps.
