"It is my pleasure to share my positive experience with Modern Plumbing Industries' emergency service. A broken outdoor faucet led to a cracked pipe and water leaking inside my home, forcing me to shut off the water at the well on a Saturday night. After three other companies couldn't send a technician until the next morning, I contacted Modern Plumbing. Their representative was reassuring and helpful, confirming they could address the issue that evening. Following contact with a representative, a plumbing technician, Tyler, promptly contacted me and arrived within 20 minutes to address a leaking pipe and a broken faucet. Tyler expertly repaired the faucet and replaced the damaged pipe, completing the work efficiently and effectively. My experience with Modern Plumbing Industries was exceptional, and I highly recommend their services, especially their readily available emergency services. I will certainly utilize their services again for any future plumbing needs."

Since our humble beginnings as the “Little Plumber" back in 1922, Dunstan & Son Plumbing Company has maintained a singular mission to bring dependable, friendly, professional-grade service to Lake and Sumter counties’ cities and towns, including The Villages, Plantation, Highland Lakes, Royal Highlands and so many others. When the Dunstans retired, they entrusted their namesake business to established local plumber John Snyder, knowing he would continue the company’s long-standing reputation of honest, outstanding service. Though the company’s workforce has grown to more than 20 employees, Dunstan & Son still has the feel of the neighborhood business it was in its beginnings. During business hours, you will always reach a caring person when you call – never an automated routing system. And because we’re local, we understand the particular plumbing demands of Central Florida homes and buildings – and their owners. To ensure that we keep our flawless record with both the Better Business Bureau and our customers, each and every employee, from our plumbers and customer service reps to our administrative staff, undergoes a rigorous background check and is regularly drug-screened in accordance with our zero tolerance policy. Whether a Dunstan & Son employee is in your home or helping you in the showroom, you can trust them to provide exceptional assistance every time. No subs. Cost is determined by the job. "Got a hold of Kiley and Sons to find and repair or a problem with a hot water heater. They showed up and instead of diagnosing the problem they charged me $740.00 to install a new water heater. After installation the new water would not work. Tech decided to finally call and seek assistance. Got directed to check circuit breaker and wiring. You guessed it, broken wire all along. Stripped it back and reinserted and problem solved. Diagnosis should have been done first since he actually tested wires on old heater and got no voltage but went ahead and installed new heater anyway. Poor company to deal with. Spread the word to avoid Kiley and Sons at all cost.” The above review gives this company an "A" for both responsiveness and punctuality They showed up quick with a new heater that was not needed just to make a sale."

"I would give these folks twenty stars if I could. They were professional, thorough and reasonably priced....most of all they provided a solution for a clogged, compromised sewer pipe that otherwise could have been disastrous. My recently purchased house was built in 1968 and soon after moving in, the drain kept clogging. After jetting the line and an initial de-scaling/cleaning attempt, the video that was taken revealed that my sewer pipe under my slab was severely compromised, fractured and with holes in multiple spots. Other tradespeople I spoke with said that my floor and slab would need to be cut open to dig out the old sewer pipe and replace it with PVC---an ENORMOUS expense and undertaking.I am so glad I called Jax Hydro-Jetters. They were able to re-line the existing sewer pipe with a strong, durable coating without disrupting my home. Problem solved. I can't tell you the peace of mind they brought to me and my husband. It is priceless and I am forever grateful. I would HIGHLY recommend you call them for any clogging disruption you are experiencing in your home. You will be so happy you did."

Tropical Plumbing & Septic, Inc. is a full service company for all your plumbing needs. Tropical Plumbing & Septic, Inc. has been in business since 1989. We are family owned and operated. You check us out at several different locations. MyFlorida.com for our license info (LIC.# CFC1425621), also the BBB, and AsktheSeal.com. Our web address is www.TropicalPlumbing.com. We will see you soon.

"I had called Tropical Septic and Plumbing [9468 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32820] to check a slow draining sink. The friendly receptionist said a service call is $60 with an additional $60/hr. every half hour after. They'd have a technician here within 48 hours who would call me before coming. The tech showed up early and never called. He was courteous, cleaned up after himself and was here about an hour. When I got the invoice, it said: “Ran snake from under kitchen sink and cleared drain. $250.” I called Tropical, since that was a much higher cost than I had expected. The person Ido talked to before told me there’s a flat rate of $250 if the tech has to “snake” a drain, although in that case they do waive the $60 service fee. She apologized for not relaying that information to me when I first called. Within a week, although not as bad as before I noticed the same drain backing up. Thinking this may be covered under the original call, I called Tropical but was told they “can’t guarantee drains.” If they send out a technician, I’d be charged for a service call ($60). The amount would be higher if the tech had to use the snake. She added they could “maybe” give me a break, but no guarantees. Bottom line: I was not given the full cost information to begin with, and when the repair was ineffective I was told I’d have to pay more for them to return."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

Water softener installation costs vary, but on average, homeowners will pay between $200 and $6,000. Due to their location, complexity, type of unit, and water demands, water softeners have a very wide price range. That being said, the average installation cost for most homes is around $1,500.

Installing a water softener could help reduce calcium buildup in your pool if your pool has high calcium hardness as a result of hard drinking water in your home. Pool softeners work by exchanging calcium and magnesium for sodium, so if you use softened water to top off your pool, it may help keep calcium hardness from rising over time. However, it won’t lower the calcium hardness of the water already in your pool and isn’t a practical way to control pool calcium levels. The average water softener installation cost is between $200 and $6,000.

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.

Yes, it’s fine to drink softened water. However, if you follow a low-sodium diet or have high blood pressure or sodium-related health concerns, make sure to speak with your doctor beforehand. If they advise against drinking water that’s been softened with sodium, you might be able to use potassium in your water softener instead.
