"It is my pleasure to share my positive experience with Modern Plumbing Industries' emergency service. A broken outdoor faucet led to a cracked pipe and water leaking inside my home, forcing me to shut off the water at the well on a Saturday night. After three other companies couldn't send a technician until the next morning, I contacted Modern Plumbing. Their representative was reassuring and helpful, confirming they could address the issue that evening. Following contact with a representative, a plumbing technician, Tyler, promptly contacted me and arrived within 20 minutes to address a leaking pipe and a broken faucet. Tyler expertly repaired the faucet and replaced the damaged pipe, completing the work efficiently and effectively. My experience with Modern Plumbing Industries was exceptional, and I highly recommend their services, especially their readily available emergency services. I will certainly utilize their services again for any future plumbing needs."

A Respect for You and Your Home That is Unmatched. When you invite a Cool Today, Plumbing Today, or Energy Today technician into your home, you can be 100 percent confident that they will leave your home’s interior in the same condition it was in before they arrived. Because we take your floors, walls, countertops, and belongings as seriously as you do, we go the extra mile to ensure that the job is done cleanly and that your property is undamaged.

"I first heard of this company when I was at Home Depot buying my home appliances and a guy came insisting on a Black Friday Deal “AC Tune up for only $8.88” if I could just think about how **** of a trickster this was …Never allowing this people come back inside my property again, totally scammers who will make your AC system fail, I’ve had COOL MODE WORKING PERFECTLY and my AC was giving me problems to Heating the house …inspector Ricardo who came and despite looking a good friendly person, he never finished the job on my AC pump upstairs due to “the NEST thermostat was in and out of fan”, tried charging me $380 just to do the thermostat installation, I refused and I did it myself, then there a fuse blown and he again told me it would cost $170 to simply change a “$8 fuse”!!! I refused again and as it wasnt enough now after I fixed the Fuse and Thermostat, just to find out they cut cooling system purposefully in the attempt to charge me for REPAIR, the AC fan is running and Thermostat is on Cooling mode but temperatures are reaching from 77F-85F leaving my family including my poor old grandmother suffering in the hot temperatures this entire time… THEY WANT TO RIP YOU OFF NO MERCY!!! DONT EVER TRUST THIS BUSINESS."

Since our humble beginnings as the “Little Plumber" back in 1922, Dunstan & Son Plumbing Company has maintained a singular mission to bring dependable, friendly, professional-grade service to Lake and Sumter counties’ cities and towns, including The Villages, Plantation, Highland Lakes, Royal Highlands and so many others. When the Dunstans retired, they entrusted their namesake business to established local plumber John Snyder, knowing he would continue the company’s long-standing reputation of honest, outstanding service. Though the company’s workforce has grown to more than 20 employees, Dunstan & Son still has the feel of the neighborhood business it was in its beginnings. During business hours, you will always reach a caring person when you call – never an automated routing system. And because we’re local, we understand the particular plumbing demands of Central Florida homes and buildings – and their owners. To ensure that we keep our flawless record with both the Better Business Bureau and our customers, each and every employee, from our plumbers and customer service reps to our administrative staff, undergoes a rigorous background check and is regularly drug-screened in accordance with our zero tolerance policy. Whether a Dunstan & Son employee is in your home or helping you in the showroom, you can trust them to provide exceptional assistance every time. No subs. Cost is determined by the job. Ask for details on travel charges & service fees. License number: cfc 057100.

"Got a hold of Kiley and Sons to find and repair or a problem with a hot water heater. They showed up and instead of diagnosing the problem they charged me $740.00 to install a new water heater. After installation the new water would not work. Tech decided to finally call and seek assistance. Got directed to check circuit breaker and wiring. You guessed it, broken wire all along. Stripped it back and reinserted and problem solved. Diagnosis should have been done first since he actually tested wires on old heater and got no voltage but went ahead and installed new heater anyway. Poor company to deal with. Spread the word to avoid Kiley and Sons at all cost.” The above review gives this company an "A" for both responsiveness and punctuality They showed up quick with a new heater that was not needed just to make a sale."

Tropical Plumbing & Septic, Inc. is a full service company for all your plumbing needs. Tropical Plumbing & Septic, Inc. has been in business since 1989. We are family owned and operated. You check us out at several different locations. MyFlorida.com for our license info (LIC.# CFC1425621), also the BBB, and AsktheSeal.com. Our web address is www.TropicalPlumbing.com. We will see you soon.

"I had called Tropical Septic and Plumbing [9468 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32820] to check a slow draining sink. The friendly receptionist said a service call is $60 with an additional $60/hr. every half hour after. They'd have a technician here within 48 hours who would call me before coming. The tech showed up early and never called. He was courteous, cleaned up after himself and was here about an hour. When I got the invoice, it said: “Ran snake from under kitchen sink and cleared drain. $250.” I called Tropical, since that was a much higher cost than I had expected. The person Ido talked to before told me there’s a flat rate of $250 if the tech has to “snake” a drain, although in that case they do waive the $60 service fee. She apologized for not relaying that information to me when I first called. Within a week, although not as bad as before I noticed the same drain backing up. Thinking this may be covered under the original call, I called Tropical but was told they “can’t guarantee drains.” If they send out a technician, I’d be charged for a service call ($60). The amount would be higher if the tech had to use the snake. She added they could “maybe” give me a break, but no guarantees. Bottom line: I was not given the full cost information to begin with, and when the repair was ineffective I was told I’d have to pay more for them to return."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

Water softeners have many benefits. The most important one is converting previously hard water—water with too many minerals—to more usable, easier water. When we say easier water, we mean water that’s easier to digest, less harsh on skin and clothes, and builds up less in the water system. Softer water may lead to lower energy costs and will extend the lifespan of all appliances that use water.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

Most of the U.S. has hard water, especially across portions of the West and Midwest. The areas with the hardest water include parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and New York. You’ll find soft water in parts of New England, the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii.
