"Mike was the best we've experienced. 27 year old HVAC units went on the fritz Sat, he came out Sunday and installed Monday. We didn't even need any other estimates, and we AlWAYS get 2 or 3. Fair price, great product and service and super fast responses. From the owner of a 29 year old established contractor! Do not hesitate, hire Mike."

"Don Lonski of Lawson Home Services came to our home to clean our dryer duct and the back of our dryer. My goodness he was absolutely wonderful. The last Teck that came refused to open the back of our dryer and clean the lint. He claimed it was not necessary to open the Flexible Vent Hose to remove all the line. After a few years our dryer was not very hot. Clothes were still damp. So, I just stopped using my dryer and hung everything on all the doors. I was afraid of a fire. Saved money on the electric bill; but I needed my dryer back. We want to tell you that Don Lonski checked everything and he said you must always remove the Flexible Vent Hose and clean in the back of the dryer. And it should be done once every year. Not only that Don Lonski went into our crawl space and found our metal duck work was improperly installed. Instead of using the metal the whole 20 feet, they used 15 feet of metal and used the Flexible Vent Hose at both ends and did a terrible job of taping as a result we had major leakage. Don Lonski said he will return when the office schedules him and he will do the job correctly. Don was very professional, ever so pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Don Lonski really took his time to explain all the problems we had. We are so grateful that we ended up with a great guy. Please schedule Don Lonski to return to complete our job completely. Tom & Carol Haley"

"Angi Reviews will not allow me to edit a previus review for this Contractor, I wanted to update that Patsi's crew did show up, were professional, gave a fair and competitive bid and are quick to start the work. So far I would give them a five stars for responding, calling and following through."

"During this very cold winter, I wanted my HVAC system checked out, esp after the fan were frozen in place before being de-iced by me. The service person was great. He checked my system and was able to answer my questions. Thank you."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While Freon is mostly odorless, a Freon leak will produce a faint chloroform-like smell. Some people find that Freon's odor has a subtle sweetness to it. Some telltale signs of a Freon leak beyond odor include ice crystals on your evaporator coil, bubbling sounds, and hissing noises.

Air filters with a high MERV rating, 11 or above, shouldn't cause airflow problems in most residential systems. However, the airflow can be restricted in some HVAC systems if they aren't designed for high MERV ratings. If in doubt, a local duct installer should inspect your ductwork so that you know what your system can handle.

Fixing a leak in an AC unit costs $200 to $1,600, depending on the type of leak and any related damage. But depending on the age and condition of your AC, it might make more sense to replace the AC unit instead of repairing it. If your AC is only a few years old and relatively problem-free, then repairing it is the right call. But if it’s nearing a decade old and has other issues, consider replacing it.

The length of an AC cycle depends on the settings in your thermostat and the unit you have. Central AC doesn't constantly run at full blast the way that a window unit does. A cooling cycle in most homes is 15 to 20 minutes. Then, the unit stays off for seven to 10 minutes to circulate the cold air in the house before the cycle repeats. It should repeat two or three times per hour. A short cycle lasts less than 10 minutes and then turns off.

Yes, HVAC zoning systems offer energy savings by allowing precise temperature control in different zones in your home. Rather than conditioning the whole house uniformly, these systems direct airflow where needed, preventing energy waste. Tailoring comfort to specific areas reduces energy consumption and lowers utility costs, making HVAC zoning an energy-efficient choice.
