"I called around 8 AM and left a VM. Within 20 minutes I received a callback. A crew happened to be close to my home so he was able to get them over right away...So quickly in fact I had to ask him to have them take their time because I needed to get ready. Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and professional. It was an overall excellent experience. I looked at prices from numerous other hauling companies, and theirs was the best."

"He had an awful mess to clean up & hail away. My relatives property which is in a different state had been neglected for YEARS. David & his crew worked for at least 3 days cutting overgrown weeds & vegetation & Hauling away crap that was discarded or just left to rot & ended up buried underneath all the weeds & saplings. They had their work cut out for them. David kept me posted as to what he was doing & sent photos. Very good communication. Would definitely recommend his company"

"I needed a few items hauled away from my home that the regularly scheduled waste removal company did not take. I reached out to Peace Services and they responded and gave me a quote immediately. They even were able to come do the job within an hour. I wasn't home at the time they came but they sent before and after pictures as they did the job. I am very pleased with the communication and ease of working with this company."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

In Washington, improper waste classification and skipping permits cause significant issues. Homes built before 1980 contain lead paint or asbestos, requiring certified abatement before hauling begins. Mixing these hazardous materials with general debris results in severe fines. Additionally, placing dumpsters on public streets or alleys without proper permits leads to penalties. Always secure necessary approvals and separate hazardous waste to ensure a safe, compliant project.

Helpful?

Knowing your Washington property’s age and historic status is critical for hauling. Homes built before 1980 carry lead and asbestos risks, demanding strict abatement protocols. Historic district rules restrict the disposal of architectural elements like brick or ironwork. You must also evaluate alley access and width to determine the correct vehicle size. Check your homeowners association rules regarding container placement and operating hours before starting.

Helpful?

DC weather creates specific challenges for hauling. Summer heat and humidity cause organic materials to decompose rapidly, creating odor and pest hazards. Winter ice storms make narrow streets and unplowed alleys impassable for trucks, causing schedule delays. Spring rains flood basements, resulting in heavy, water-damaged debris. Plan your project around these seasonal shifts, and remove organic waste immediately during the summer to maintain a safe environment.

Helpful?

Success with hauling in DC depends on strict regulatory compliance and proper waste separation. You must separate recyclables, hazardous materials, and construction debris to prevent rejection at transfer stations. Securing public space permits well in advance prevents stop-work orders. Furthermore, selecting appropriately sized vehicles protects historic brick-paved streets and narrow alleys from damage. Proper planning and adherence to local regulations keep your project on track.

Helpful?

Professional hauling directly increases your home’s resale appeal in Washington. Clearing accumulated debris helps properties photograph better and attract buyers quickly. Removing basement clutter reveals usable square footage, highlighting the potential for profitable accessory dwelling unit conversions. In historic districts, clearing exterior debris maximizes curb appeal. Addressing unpermitted waste before listing your property removes transaction obstacles and ensures a smoother sale process.
