"Mike and his crew were wonderful to work with. They were professional and always communicative, worked very neatly and executed this project very well. And they were very courteous to say the least. I ended up rehiring for a large fence removal. He also did some hauling of debris just before my house sold and went the extra mile and taking an old shelf out of the basement."

"Hi All, We just used American Junk Removal to gut our bathrooms and haul away all of our appliances, carpets and other chaos in our home gut renovation. Adam Chop (owner) and his team could NOT have been more professional. They arrived on time, were completely professional, COVID aware and compliant and we would recommend them without reservation for any "junk removal" or demo needs you may have. They did not ask us to share or promote them, but I was so impressed with their service and professionalism combined with the fact that they were HALF of what our contractor quoted us for the same job - that I needed to share their services. Hauling questions, answered by experts

Before a move, prioritize projects that involve repairing broken or old home features over ones with the highest ROI—because no amount of manufactured stone veneer will distract potential buyers from an interior that's falling apart. Only after you've tended to your home's biggest sore spots should you turn your attention to other potential renovations.

Roughing in and connecting utilities are the hardest parts of finishing a basement, and they’re the parts we typically don’t recommend doing as a DIY project. Unfortunately, your finishing timeline can be extended by weeks while you wait for contractors and inspectors to install electrical wiring, plumbing lines, and heating/cooling equipment and carry out inspections.

While temporarily inconvenient, repiping a house is not super invasive. Depending on the size of your home, the project can take a few days to a week. During that time, plumbers may turn your water off here and there, but you won’t be without water the whole time. If you’re worried about living in your home during this renovation, you can always stay with friends or family or book a hotel room.

When deciding between renting a dumpster and hiring a junk removal service, the key factors are the type of project, the items you're discarding, and your timeline.

  • Rent a dumpster for longer projects like remodeling or construction. It offers flexibility, allowing you to dispose of debris like broken tile, drywall, fixtures, and yard waste over several days. You will be responsible for loading the dumpster yourself.

  • Hire a junk removal service for quick, hands-free disposal. This is ideal if you want to get rid of a pile of junk quickly, or if you have heavy or bulky items like furniture and boxes that you don't want to lift yourself. The professionals handle all the labor, often clearing everything out within a few hours.

Finding the right dumpster rental company for your needs requires interviewing companies to ask about rental timelines, costs, and weight limits. Here are some questions you can ask a dumpster rental company you’re considering:

  • How long are your standard rental contracts? Can I extend it?

  • What is the maximum weight your dumpsters can hold?

  • Does the rental include dumping fees?

  • Do I need a permit, and will you pull it for me?

  • Will you protect my driveway from damage?
