"Of all the people I've had work on my home renovation in the last year, these guys were my favorite. Prompt, professional, honest, and reliable. When Duke came to give us the estimate, my 2 year old daughter wanted to give him a hug before he left which is unprecedented. That pretty much sealed the deal for us. They were also far and away the most reasonable quote we got. Even a friend quoted us $1500 more for less work. The installers were on time and knew their stuff. The install work is top notch as well. Everything in place and looks well put together. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC work."

"I first contacted Valley to get a quote on how much it would cost to get air conditioning installed. I live in an older town home that is approximately 1100 sq. ft. They sent someone out to take a look and see what was involved. He was very professional and explained what was involved including getting permits from the city. He quoted the amount and provided me with an invoice. I contacted them 3 months later to say I was ready for the install. The installation turned out to be quite challenging due to the way my home is constructed, but Valley made it work. The service person had to stay a few hours longer but I wasn't charged anything extra for it. They stuck with the amount of the estimate that was quoted. It's only been a couple of months since the install, but I have to say my only complaint at this point is how cold it gets when I turn on the air. But that's a nice problem to have. :)"

"A few days before contacting "Comfort Energy", my furnace started making a loud rattling noise whenever it was turning on. It sounded like a helicopter. This happened while my husband was traveling on business, who is an expert on taking care of things like this. While I was not sure what to do, I Googled and found out more about the problem. What made me quickly act and find "Comfort Energy" was reading about how seriously dangerous this problem might be. I read that it could be a cracked heat ex-changer which can cause fire. So right away, I turned off the furnace then next day called "Comfort Energy".  Having read the excellent reviews, I decided to give them a try. Excellent customer service. Olga and Frank both were very professional and helpful. Olga quickly scheduled the service. Frank was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Same day my husband was back from his trip and met with Frank. He was impressed and happy about how Frank handled the case. We will definitely call them again in case of any HVAC issue. We strongly recommend "Comfort Energy" for their expertise, professionalism, and excellent service,

"John did an amazing job with our HVAC system! From the moment he arrived, he was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. His workmanship was top-notch, and he made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. It?s hard to find someone who genuinely cares about doing quality work, but John definitely does. If you?re looking for an honest, reliable HVAC contractor who takes pride in what he does, I highly recommend John. I couldn?t be happier with the service!"

"Great job estimating HVAC requirements, as well as a smooth and detailed job with actual installation. John would consistently set up expectations on installation details, noise-levels, arrival and exit times, etc. He is highly professional, very detail-oriented about time taken and strict with timelines. Both my heating and AC work perfectly!"

"Rittinger responded quickly. Alan, the tradesman they sent over was professional and quick. I hired them to install a clothes dryer vent and to open up a vent in my garage for the hot water heater. The work was high quality and installation was clean."

"Great team! Mark, Sergii and Pavel replaced my furnace and installed an AC. It was a real pleasure to work with them. Mark listened carefully and provided several options for me to choose from. He was also flexible on scheduling the work to match my family needs. Sergii and Pavel performed the installation exactly as planned, kept the house clean, and payed a lot of attention to the aesthetics of the visible parts of the system. They explained to me where they'd run the lines, what were the options and why they preferred one over the other. I'm very happy with the choice of brand and model and with the installation. The team really cares about their customers. Thank you!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.

It depends on the size of the space you’re cooling down. If you’re looking for the most affordable way to cool an entire house over a long period of time, then central air will be more cost-effective. But when it comes to cooling down a couple of rooms or one floor, a window unit may be the cheaper option, with both a lower cost to install and less energy used to run.

While spending money once or twice a year to tuneup your AC and furnace might seem like a waste of money, think again. The cost of HVAC maintenance is far less than the cost of replacing your furnace or AC unit, regardless of the type of HVAC system you have. Paying this smaller fee now will help you avoid paying much more significant costs in the future. Not to mention, having a serviced AC and heating system will help keep your home comfortable, no matter the season.

Yes. It's normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off intermittently in dry mode as it maintains the desired humidity level. The compressor cycles to prevent over-dehumidification and to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. This cycling behavior ensures efficient operation and optimal humidity control, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the dry mode function in your AC system.

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.
