"They started each day at 8:00 AM and worked until 5:00 or later. They were very polite and professional. The lead person George would explain what they would be doing each day and then perform the tasks. The deck looks like it is brand new and the redwood has the original color and grain. Note: the bill included 4 hours of setting the deck screws so they could sand. Otherwise they performed to the bid."

"I can't think of enough good things to say about Omar Alvarado and his company, Green Oak Painting. He and his helper Ricardo did an excellent job on my house painting project made challenging by the extensive prep work required which included extensive scraping and sanding and replacing or restoring some siding, rafter tails and other wood affected by dry rot. They were on time, even early, for all appointments and scheduled work, and Omar kept me informed at every step about what was needed, what he recommended, what it would cost, and to ask me what I wanted because it meant a lot to him that I would be happy with the results. They were thorough but efficient, caulked every nook and cranny, and applied several coats of primer and the finish coat. There are a couple of doors in such bad shape they need to be replaced, which will take a few weeks, and Omar's fee includes returning when they arrive to help me hang them and paint them, and I know he will because he earned my complete trust. He honored the estimate despite all the prep work required. But he is also a competent business owner. Omar is one of the nicest, most honest, and most conscientious people I have ever met and I just wish he did more than painting. He told me he chose to specialize in painting so that he could excel at it, and he does."

"Hire this company! Can't recommend them enough. Anthony came out quickly to look at a small bathroom job and was able to fit it in the same week. The work was very professional and they did everything just the way I wanted for a reasonable price. They also did a great job of cleaning everything up afterward. I will use them again for my next painting job!"

"Needed my deck sealed after a year of curing. Quote was high, but I decided it was worth it. Lots of positive reviews. Had some water marks from pots on the deck. After the first brightening there were still watermarks. I sent Bruce pictures and asked that the guys coming to seal make sure the watermarks were taken care of. He told me to point out the spots and they would take care of it. When the sealers came, I pointed out the marks and asked that they make sure they were taken care of before the sealing. They told me that the water marks were the result of leaving pots on the deck...duh. Obviously this is what happened, but was why I was paying Cal Preserving to take care of it. I don't appreciate having to convince my contractors I want something done the right way. I ended up calling Bruce and explaining that I felt like this was being done in a rush, but he assured me his team was professional and that it would get done properly. Placated, I decided to trust it would be OK, despite the static. That was my first mistake. After they were done sealing they asked for the check (before it had a chance to dry and for me to inspect the work). I told Bruce I didn't feel comfortable with this (over the phone), but he reassured me that they weren't that kind of company and any mistakes or issues would be taken care of. I gave the sealers the check. Mistake number 2. The next day I inspected the work to find huge sections of the hand rail completely unsealed and with power-washer damage. Also the water marks were still there and now sealed in. I took pictures and sent them to Bruce. He came out and we discussed the issues. He was nice and told me not to worry and that his guys would take care of it. Another iteration and the handrail was fixed, but the watermarks are still there. At this point I feel like I didn't get the full value of what I paid, and the hassle I went through to get to where I am now, which is barely passable should be avoided by others so I am writing this review. I don't mind paying premium prices, but when I do, I expect premium work. And if I find something wrong with the work, I expect it to be fixed without contention. The fact is I feel like the job was rushed, and I was pressured into paying early. I am a relatively new homeowner and this whole experience has just been a lesson learned. If the watermarks were taken care of, and the rail done right the first time, and nobody gave me static, I would be rating Cal Preserving with five stars. Take warning!"

"Luis is a skilled, hard-working, thorough, and trustworthy professional craftsman who takes pride in doing an excellent job. He cleaned and restained 3 redwood decks for me, along with wood shingling around my house, repainting the white trims. I was deeply impressed with his noteworthy attention to detail in his estimate, pointing out to me many things I hadn't seen, discovering dry rot and other serious deteriorations in the woodwork that was built in the late 1970's. Too many contractors would just paint over the problems, but every step of the way Luis pointed out the situation and gave me options for repair and replacement. I feel so fortunate to have hired Luis and his team to work on restaining, repainting, repair and/or replacing all the defective wood in my structures. He did an outstanding job, and I have full confidence in his trustworthy integrity and skill. I'm already hiring him again for additional work. "Well, Omar- Owner/Operator of Indigo Paintings has done it again. Last year, they painted the exterior of the home and this time the work was done on the interior of the home. Omar is very hard-working, his prices are reasonable, and he always completes the job ahead of schedule, provided all goes well. This time Omar had the assistance of a very hard-working young man, named Antonio. Antonio was always on time, and pleasant. He often assisted my sister and me when we needed help. So, don’t be fooled by the name Indigo Painting, as the business does much more than paint. My sister and I just can’t say enough about this dynamic dual. Omar and Antonio replaced the flooring in the lower portion of the home and refurbished and refinished several wooden floors in the upper portion of the home. They also replaced several light fixtures and they painted several rooms in the home. Omar and Antonio, my sister, and I can’t thank you both enough for such an Excellent Job! Beverly Johnson"

"From beginning through completion Gene exceeded my expectations. I normally do all my own work, but due to my schedule I did not have time to compete the project. Gene arrived when he said he would to give me an estimate. The price and scope of work were reasonable and fair. We set a start date. The night before I received a text to confirm. At 8:00 AM The door bell rang. They were here. The gentleman who pressure washed they house did a great job. Even cleaned the stairs and sidewalk. The paint crew also arrived on time. They did a super job. Clean and quick. Those guys worked really hard during some hot, smokey weather. The place looks great."
