"Jeff and his crew were professional, prompt, did an excellent job of prepping our deck that was in bad shape, and painting the deck, posts and railings and making it look beautiful again. They cleaned everything up and helped put things back together again for us. We highly recommend Jeff and his very nice and efficient crew."

"Bayardo and his team were fantastic! They were on time every day, cleaned up after themselves, and did a wonderful job repairing dry rot and painting. Bayardo is so thorough with his inspections and work. They do a job the right way."
Before pictures
(Before Pic)Home was pressure washed with a 3000 psi machine to remove as much dirt and grime from the exterior house wall surfaces before painting. We sanded all the bad areas and spot primed them before painting. Used caulking to seal any open grooves and open wood joints as needed.
(Before l) This photo shows the condition of the cabinet before it was refinished. You can see the stain is faded and clear coat is chipping away from water damage and moisture in the air.
Exterior Repaint
Prepped the door for painting. Sanded it then primed it. Removed the door handle and carefully covered the hinges before spray painting the door.

"Junior and his team did a wonderful job painting the exterior of my San Francisco home. When I set up the appointment to look at my home, Junior, who is the owner of Mendez Professional Painting, came out and he couldn't be more friendly and professional. His prices are competitive and he has such an easy going personality. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. He answered all my questions and let me know what steps were involved in the entire process. His crew is very professional, prompt, and they did a great job in cleaning up every day. When the job was completed, he made sure I was totally satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone if they have any painting needs. I told him if I have other projects such as interior painting, he would be the first person I call. I'm glad that I now have a person I can turn to if I have any other painting projects. These guys are great!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right product involves understanding deck material, desired finish, and local weather conditions. Opt for high-quality, weatherproof formulations ensuring long-term durability and appearance retention.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.
