"All I can say is wow!!! Rick is easy to work with and provided a great design and even better finished product. He listened to what we wanted and came up with a plan for the front yard and side yard. Rick gave us a no pressure estimate and time to talk to other companies to compare. Method Paving was not the cheapest or the most expensive but we felt comfortable going with them because several friends had worked with Rick and loved the entire experience. They started on time and finished early and were efficient, considerate and very professional. Rick worked closely with the crews to ensure there would be no misunderstandings in regards to what we wanted. The demolition crew finished and CLEANED UP the first two days and the pavers were completed in 6 days! What I thought was going to take 2 weeks was completed in just 8 working days. Everardo left the yard clean and even swept the gutters and street so no dirt or mess was left in front of our house or the neighboring houses. Our neighbors were very impressed by the work and professionalism of Method Paving. We have had people stop by often and complement our driveway. I highly recommend Method Paving/Rick and would definitely have another job done by them! Truly a five-star company!"

Customers say: True professional

"One of the best contractor experience I ever had. Robert the owner showed up on time with his crew and equipment as promised finished the work on time , cleaned all debris and hauled it away , stayed behind to explain how to keep the asphalt maintained And called few weeks after to check on the work. Since the first time he did the 1st project we called on him to come two more times to expand the driveway and couple of times to do concrete work I will highly recommend Top Grade Paving to all my friends My neighbours used his services as well"

"I just completed a job with Landscape Solutions in Los Gatos and wanted to share my experience with anyone who might be looking for a landscape company. Our project was a small yard with a combination of hard surface and the installation of artificial turf for our dogs. I was surprised how good it looks and the dogs seem to enjoy it as much as real grass. I interviewed a few companies and chose Landscape Solutions based on how easy they were to talk to and how transparent they were with their process including design and billing. The entire job went very smoothly. I changed a few things after we started, and they were upfront about how that would impact the time to completion and the cost. In both cases their estimates were accurate. Their pricing was competitive and given the quality of the finish product and the ease of working with them I found it to be very reasonable. The guys they had doing the work were very professional, polite, and easy to work with. They cleaned up after each days work and returned the next morning right on time. I appreciated that they were very respectful of my time and my home. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I have already recommended them to a friend who may need work done in the future. They are a 5 star contractor. I highly recommend them."

"We hired Steve to install new pavers in our backyard. With COVID, we're stuck at home and our old patio was uneven and had an ugly overhang that made half of it unusable. Steve was always very responsive, provided us a very reasonable price, and I was surprised by how quickly the crew was able to complete the work. We LOVE our new patio! Additionally, when a minor issue came up a few weeks after the work was done, Steve immediately came back to the house, looked at it, and had someone out to fix it within a few days."

"I was surprised, it was quick and it was easy from the time they tore up the old concrete prepared and. Disposed of the old driveway, poured the new concrete. It only took 2 days, but they were exceptional. I can only give praises to the professionalism and how well they did their job. They treated my driveway like they were putting one in a in a 5 million dollar home and all the workers were courteous. I have already recommended them to a few people for some jobs they're looking to have done.."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

Several materials are suitable for steep driveways. Gravel and crushed stone are affordable options that provide good traction. Permeable pavers—such as plastic, rubber, or concrete—filled with gravel or crushed stones are also excellent, as they allow water to drain without causing erosion and perform well in ice and snow. Another option is resin, which can be coated with an anti-slip finish and helps prevent puddles. For added stability, you can install a retaining wall to prevent pavers and gravel from shifting over time.

Many asphalt companies have experience with tar and chip paving, but not all. The process is unique enough—and not incredibly common enough—that you may have to look around for a tar and chip specialist. However, speaking with a driveway company is a great place to start, especially if they have experience with multiple materials.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.
