"My fence was broken and leaning due to an overgrown tree and Javier was able to repair the fence where the posts had become loose and replace the section where the tree had been. He and Daniel did a great job at a very competitive price. That fence is now. SOLID! And they got it done very quickly so my back yard is now "party-ready" for the summer! This is the second time I have worked with Javier and he is reliable, inexpensive and does really good work."

"We received a coupon in the "Value Pac" for 15% off any job from Fence Pro, over $3,000. We needed to have our aging fence replaced on one side of the house, and all along the rear of the house, along with some minor repairs of the fence on the other side of the house. Tim Garcia, the owner, met with us to go over what was needed and provided a detailed written estimate, which included the 15% off. After my wife and I made the decision to go with FencePro, we called and set a date for the work to begin. We were contacted by them asking if they could start a day earlier, which happened to work with our schedule. The workers showed up on time and had the demolition work completed in a matter of a few hours. They set the posts and stringers in the same day. The next day the came and installed the entire fence along with a gate and were done by the end of the work day. The job called for them to stain the fence and I was to provide the stain. I have the 10 gallons of stain Tim suggested I purchase and 4 men showed up the final day and had two coats of stain applied by 2 p.m. The job looks great, and the team worked together really hard. I found them and Tim easy to work with even when there was a minor change in about 16 feet of fencing which we wanted to be 8 ft instead of 6 ft. I would recommend FencePro is you have a fencing job."

"My wife and I decided to do a complete overhaul of our yard by adding a complete irrigation system that included sprinklers and a drip system. We also decided to remove some concrete paths to extend our lawn and add some hedges to increase the greenery in our yard. My wife and I were both a bit nervous and stressed out about the project in fear of hiring the wrong person for the job. However, from the day that Roberto provided me with his quote for the job he turned out to be very professional and knowledgeable in his trade. He gave me his advice when needed without changing our original plans. Roberto and his crew were always on time and completed the project in a timely manner. Roberto has continued to check in with us and stopped by to check-in and adjust our irrigation system. His quote was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend his services."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

To effectively keep animals out of your yard with a fence, choose a fence that anchors to the ground to deter digging. Also, consider adding a barrier below the fence to prevent burrowing.

To make your yard less desirable to animals, eliminate food sources like a vegetable garden, and ensure your garbage cans are sealed and tamper-proof. Installing motion-activated devices like lights or sprinklers will startle animal intruders. Also, a fence won’t work well if you forget to keep gates closed and secure. If you still face persistent animal intrusion issues, contact a wildlife control expert who can offer specialized solutions.

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.

The best fence option for you depends on your property, budget, and style preferences, but a corrugated metal fence could be a good option if you want something durable yet low-maintenance. Unlike wood, corrugated metal won’t fall prey to rot or pest damage, and the metal can be recycled after its life as a fence comes to an end.

There are pros and cons to vinyl fencing. The drawbacks are that it can be expensive up front compared to options like chain-link fencing and that it’s vulnerable to fading. The material is difficult to repair without replacing entire panels or the whole fence, and you can’t paint over vinyl to change the color. However, this material is impressively durable and easy to maintain, making it a good choice for many homes.

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.
