"I was referred to WCD Masonry by a company whom I initially called for an estimate on our block wall that was leaning. The company happened to serve only areas in Orange County. Since I live in Los Angeles County , they referred me to WCD Masonry. William was professional and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to work with him. He takes time to explain the details on what needs to be done to make the repair strong and lasting. His craftsmanship was beautiful and finished on time. I am happy that our block wall looks great again! Thank you, William!"

"About a year ago we had our frame braced and bolted to the foundation (seismic retrofit) . The Foundation Works did a top notch job with a professional crew at every step. Their price was similar to other bids and they worked with us through the Earthquake Brace and Bolt program. They also stuck to their time lines. We were very happy with them, but here's the cherry on top. We had copper pipes installed recently. When the county inspector was out to inspect that job, he looked at the work under the house. He asked us who did our brace and bolt job. We told him and asked why. He said he could see that they did a really great job."

"My project was a 100' long, 7' tall concrete block wall. I met with both owners, not sumultaneously, but separately. Their communication was spot on, they were very friendly and knowledgeable. The work was completed in a very short period of time, the workers were extrememly capable and worked very hard to complete the project. I highly recommend them!"

"I have been dreaming for a while now about new landscaping for my home! Josef with MVP Remodeling offered financing options to make that dream into a reality. I am so happy I found them! Josef was able to approve me on the spot to finance the project and started the work 3 days later! It took a week for the job to be done and I could not be happier!!!"

"What a great service! Conrad's professional expertise gave us a new sprinkler system with very dramatic lighting for accent. And the masonry work was added seamlessly. The men arrived promptly every morning and worked diligently to complete the project in a very timely manner. They even assisted in planting additional plants around the perimeter of the house! We were on a very tight schedule to accommodate a professional commitment and Del Mar rescheduled themselves to fit us in and completed the entire project as promised. And the added bonus - our neighbors commenting on the quick service and dramatic lighting. I can not say enough good things about this service. I would not hesitate to call on Del Mar Landscaping again.... and I will!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Handbuilt masonry fireplaces are likely what comes to mind when we think about curling up by the fire at the end of the day. But bricks in the firebox and chimney tend to be heavy, which is not ideal for homes with weak or damaged foundations.

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

Yes, professionals have the skills to restore historical or intricate masonry by respecting traditional techniques and materials. They address damage meticulously, preserving the original design while ensuring stability and longevity.

Unless you’ve worked in the masonry industry before, it is in your best interest if you hire a pro for any masonry needs. Masonry-related jobs require a high skill level and can be extremely time-consuming. If anything goes wrong, a licensed and insured masonry contractor would be able to take care of the subsequent repairs, giving you additional peace of mind.

No, you don’t need to soak the brick before cutting it by hand. In fact, cutting a wet brick can make it harder to see your score lines and may cause the chisel to slip. Soaking is sometimes used with power tools to reduce dust, but for hand-cutting, it’s best to work with dry bricks for better control and visibility.

You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. For holes with a diameter of 3/16-inch or less, a regular drill with a masonry bit can do the job. However, the bit will heat up quickly, and the process will take significantly longer than with a hammer drill. Prepare to cool your drill bit down in a bucket of water more often.
