"I had a running toilet. I called Gorilla Plumbing and spoke to Mickey Romero. He came over immediately and we discussed options. I decided to go with the toilet replacement altogether and angle valve replacement as well. Mickey provided everything, did an immaculate job and he even cleaned up the entire area as well when he finished. Very professional, very easy, very smooth. 10/10 experience. I will be calling Gorilla Plumbing again and requesting for Mickey if I have any other plumbing problems/questions/concerns."

Customers say: Quick response

"Today (Sunday) 11:15 I called ARS Rescue Rooter because my parents toilet was backing up into the shower and was told a service technician would be available between 12-2. At 12:08 ARS contacted me back and told me the name of my technician and where he was and that he would be there in 15-20 mins. At 12:20 Francisco (the technician) had arrived and was ready to evaluate the job. Francisco diagnosed the problem and went straight to work, he was extremely pleasant and professional. The price for the job quoted at the evaluation was the price we paid...no up sale! He did however mention that there was a little other work that needed to be done in a different area, but not right now. We had such a great experience with this company that we will definitely use again and refer to our friends."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.

Most toilets have a 12-inch rough-in or hole, but some have 10- or 14-inch holes, which means that not all toilets fit all setups. Knowing how to measure the rough-in is essential, so you purchase a toilet that fits the existing drain hole. It can be costly to have the rough-in moved, and most stores don’t accept toilet returns.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

To drain a broken toilet, place towels or plastic sheeting around the base in case of splashing or overflowing. Next, shut off the toilet’s water supply, usually via a valve on the wall behind the toilet. Begin flushing the handle to remove as much water as possible from the tank and the bowl. Don’t flush the toilet if it’s clogged, though. From there, use a large sponge to soak up any remaining water and wring it over a bucket.

Options include standard, dual-flush, and low-flow models. Choose based on water efficiency and design preferences.
