"With the help of Samantha, I ended up choosing the most amazing wood flooring, Engineered Select & Better Yellow Birch Natural by Lauzon. It is gorgeous & I couldn’t be happier!! I love it better than the floors that I needed to replace. Samantha has amazing patience & was so helpful in my choosing the right flooring..Marty, owner of Valley Carpet One, only puts out excellent work. His team is friendly & competent. They know how to do an excellent job! Everyone was very professional.... Marty put my Mom’s flooring in many years ago & he also put in my first wood flooring in 2015. Both jobs were excellent in every way...."

"Could not have been happier with the flooring installation. The team came out and did a formal estimate, then worked with us when our timeline for installation shifted a few times. They were super fast - both in material procurement (we were working on a very condensed timeline) and in installation (everything was done in 1.5 days). Installers were very professional and courteous, even while working around another couple of crews painting and working on the electrical. Would definitely hire again!

"
  • We had a tight schedule with a upcoming move in date. Mike Pillar came to our new home, and got back to us with an estimate. We decided to accept his bid, selected one of the samples that he provided, and went to his shop to sign the contract. At that time we were told that the wood that we had selected was not in stock, and it would take six weeks to get. He suggested an alternative, that was available immediately. We were disappointed but had a time crunch, took the new sample to our home, and determined that is as an acceptable replacement, (although visibly was inferior quality 25% thinner), than our original selection. The following week, we met with the installers, and proceeded to leave them to work, when the foreman came running after me, and wanted to show me that the wood that they were installing, did not match the sample, that was still in my house. It was clearly a different dye lot. I was very upset and got in touch with Mike Pillar. He insisted that it was the same, even though myself, my husband, and his employee clearly saw a difference. I was thrilled to find out that the original wood that we had selected suddenly was available, however, we were now being charged an extra $680 to get the floor that we were originally quoted on. The explanation that we were given for the price increase was that the stairs cost more with that wood, even though that flooring isn't even on the stairs. The stairs are stained wood. In the end the quality of the work, and the overall pricing was good. I didn't appreciate the bait and switch tactics, the unreasonable price increase, or the way that I was spoken to by the owner.

"It went great. Laurie and Dave were very professional and easy to communicate with. Dave and his team did excellent work, paying attention to detail and always concerned with doing the best work rather than just getting it done quick. They installed flooring and baseboard in my entire 1400 sq ft house, including kitchen and bathrooms, and it all looks great."

"Mike Harris Hardwood is outstanding because Mike Harris takes pride in his work and does an outstanding job . I have rarely been more impressed with a company . Mike expertise results in a higher quality of work than one could hope to have based on any given estimate. Mike does the work himself, and his expertise shows from every step of the project to the final return of the furniture on your magnificently redone wood floors. Mike initially confirmed where water damage was on my floors, though others only guessed at the level of damage. He charged me a reasonable price for the extra repairs that turned out flawless. His estimate was lower than most of the six estimates I got but his work was beyond anything I hoped to see. My floors look fantastic and I can not recommend him highly enough. Anyone using Mike Harris will be making a smart choice. He is the best!"

Small jobs welcome

"Victor, the owner of Dynamic Hardwood Flooring was very professional and knowledgeable. I appreciate the reasonable pricing, his guidance with choosing material, and his personal involvement with the installation. He began the project right away with the removal of our old, carpet and completed the job in less than a week. Our large 2 story home was beautifully finished with wood floors throughout - and super clean at completion of the job. I thank Victor for his excellent workmanship and courtesy. Yes, I, +100% recommend Dynamic Hardwood Flooring. Patricia Wiemann"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

To prepare a floor for a steam mop, it’s essential to vacuum or sweep the floor thoroughly to remove dirt, dust, pet hair, and other debris. Skipping this step can lead to streaky results and may cause you to simply spread grime instead of removing it. Worse, hard debris can scratch or damage delicate floors like hardwood or laminate. Proper prep helps ensure a truly clean and protected surface.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

Yes, you can put carpet directly on concrete. However, you need to take certain precautions to ensure the success of the carpet installation. For example, you’ll need to choose a synthetic carpet pad to provide insulation and cushioning and a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from seeping into the carpet.

Stain-resistant carpet might be worth it for your household if you have children or pets and expect spills to happen. While it may cost more than you expected upfront, you may save money in the long run if you have to replace your carpet less frequently (thanks to stains not absorbing down into the fibers).

The type of flooring you choose for your bedroom comes down to personal preference. Many people prefer carpet over hard-surface flooring types (such as hardwood, tile, or stone) in their bedrooms because it’s warmer and cozier. Carpeting also helps muffle sound, which may benefit those who have trouble sleeping.

On the other hand, some folks prefer the look of hardwood over carpet. People with allergies might also opt for non-carpeted flooring since carpet fibers can attract dust, dander, and other allergens.
