"It went great, and I highly recommend them for the quality of their work, I just think $829 dollars to install four valves was a bit extreme. I'm sure there are more reasonably priced plumbers."

"Diego and his crew are exactly what you would wish for when you need an hvac related service. After over 10 calls to other companies Rachel and Diego were the only ones willing to work with us on a time restricted job. We sold our house and needed work done on our furnace for the new buyers. They are always available when you call them, and the job gets done when they say it will be. Price quotes were straight forward and reasonable compared to other finished job prices I see listed here. Loved them so much I recommended my mother in law use them to replace her heat/ac units in her big house where we temporarily live, another positive review to come!"

"Sal from ABC Cooling and Heating came a day after I called the company (I got an appointment with them 5 minutes after sending the email requesting an appointment). He was professional and pleasant. He explained to me how to clean the filters in my furnace and how to install them back in place, thus saving me $200. I appreciated his advice, as I really didn't want to spent that money on him simply just washing the filters, a do-it-yourself job, if the home owner is able to do it. At the end, we were able to replace a bad capacitator and figure out that the compressor worked just fine with this new part. I paid $234 for the capacitator, $59 for the home visit and labor and got 10% off as a member of Angie's list. I am not sure if it was a good price or not for the capacitator (I didn't check prices online), but I was perfectly happy with the job and Sal. I think that $59 was a good price for the labor, considering that you have to pay this fee anyways for the diagnostic/home visit."

"Pann was knowledgable, responsive, did all work correctly, on time, and within budget. He went above and beyond by taking care of issues he uncovered that we were not aware were there. He worked with us to come up with the idea of installing an Internet closet that made it possible to have less visible cables and cords running on our walls. The finished project works great and I appreciate having a clean look behind my TV stand. Running the new electric to the detached garage was hard work. Pann crawled around under our house to pull the new wiring through. He even worked within our tight schedule of 2 weeks! Again, everything works great and we will definitely hire again for future needs."

"Great! Tony called in advance & was very prompt. Personable and professional, he quickly hooked up his equipment and let the machines do their work, which took about 30 minutes for our 1400 SF house. He took photos of the intake duct so we could see their condition. I will be scheduling a manual deep cleaning of the whole system next!"

"It's hard to put into a Yelp review how grateful we are to have found these guys. I am in a predicament to say the least. We hired just about the worst contractor we could have hired. We did our due diligence but they were masters of the con. What can u do? (Everlast construction - beware!!) The problems with our HVAC system were many. It wasn't installed to code, and was even set up in a way where if it was left as is, electrical fires and/or the previous hvac shorting out due to being wired so incorrectly. The guys at Jazz were able to take an incorrectly installed system, cut out my old one unit and safely remove it, then install a new hvac with all the corrections to every line. What we have now is an efficient heater that works - and isn't a fire hazard. Imagine that! This isn't even the nicest thing they did for us. Turns out, the ghost of my crooked contractor was still haunting us. We could not pass inspection without a hers test, yet the person hired previously to complete it, disappeared off the map. Jazz got a new one going, and spent several weeks tracking down all the people and paperwork needed to do one from scratch. Needless to say, it was unprecedented for them, no picnic, and they did it happily. Never wavered, never hesitated and always called back and kept us updated. I would recommend them to my mother. These guys will do a good job. They have a kind vibe and I have no reservations in giving them five stars and propping them up. Would hire them again. Thank you jazz! Edit: these guys have come By three separate times to fix more issues left by the previous inept criminally minded people at "Everlast construction." All three times, no charge, super sweet attitude and just supremely helpful. Hire these guys."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.

If you want a new boiler that’s going to help lower your fuel bills, you should buy one that has a high energy-efficiency rating. For example, a boiler that is rated “A” uses at least 90% of the energy created by the boiler. And in order to enjoy the best performance, it’s important to have it installed properly by a highly-rated tech.

It takes about five to 10 minutes for heat to reach a radiator, then about one hour until the radiator fully heats up a room. The exact duration depends on the size of the room and how far away the radiator is from the boiler heating system. Heating up an entire house could take up to two hours.

You can save money on heating oil through a combination of improving home efficiency and smart purchasing strategies.

Home Efficiency and Usage:

  • Improve Insulation: Ensure your home, especially the basement and attic, is well-insulated and sealed against drafts to prevent heat leakage.

  • Manage Your Thermostat: Use a properly calibrated and programmable thermostat. Lower the temperature by a few degrees, particularly when you are away from home or asleep.

Purchasing Strategies:

  • Buy in the Off-Season: Order heating oil during the summer months when prices are generally at their lowest. This strategy is most effective if you have a large primary tank or a separate storage tank to accommodate bulk deliveries.

  • Consider a Delivery Contract: Some companies offer contracts with a set price for the term. This can lead to savings if market prices for oil increase, but you might pay more if prices drop.

A furnace is a big unit where gas, heating oil, or electricity heats the air. The warmed air is then pushed back out through ducts and vents.

A boiler uses electricity, heating oil, or gas to heat water that is pushed into the room through a radiator. This is one of the oldest and most effective ways to heat a house, but radiators can also be unsightly and leave hot and cold spots in the room.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from outside into the house and return it to the room through ducts and vents.
