"Sophia and Q went beyond my expectations. The quality of their work is fantastic. They solved the rodent problem that I have been dealing with for over 20 years. How? With knowledge, determination, and constant research into the newest techniques. I would give 10 stars if I could."

"Trap snapped 2 hours after he left. Unfortunately it didn’t kill instantly and I had to finish the job as both my husband and exterminator not present. Had to put poor critter out of its misery. We are city folks living in country for first time and have a lot to learn. Yet very efficient company that uses traps and chemistry nontoxic to environment and my animals. We also have wasp and ant problems to be addressed later in year. Have great confidence they will help."

"Armando was great to work with. We had to keep postponing our termite work for almost 4 months due to continuing rain storms, we thought after getting the quote back in 2022, they might increase the cost for the work that needed to be done, NOPE, the cost stayed the same. The crew that came out to take care of the treatment were very thorough, very professional, and overall a great team. I would definitely recommend Vanguard Termite Control."

"Mark is very personable and diligent. He came with one other person and did the treatment himself. He is certainly dedicated to serving his customers. I was originally going to get both the rodent and insect treatments, but after checking the product label for the rat bait, I realized the rodent treatment is highly toxic and will enter the food chain. I asked Mark not to market the bait traps as Eco-friendly, because they are certainly not. Here is a web page from the Center for Biological Diversity with information about Bromodiolone, the primary ingredient in the rat bait and other second generation rodenticides: https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/campaigns/pesticides_reduction/rodenticides/index.html I also decided not to use the initial insect treatment, which is, no doubt, lethal to spiders and beneficial insects, although I never received the product label from Mark and don't know the specific ingredients.. Our garden has mostly native or drought tolerant plants. Many of them attract birds, bees and other insects. We have chickens in the back yard as well as wild bird feeders and our small dogs use the yard many times daily. I didn't want to risk introducing toxins into the yard. Because of my concerns about toxicity, Mark decided to use the non-toxic insect treatment (around the perimeter of the foundation only) and do web sweeping. Since the treatment was completed a week ago, I still see ants a few feet away from the house, but we have none inside. This was my primary concern. I'll decide after my first contract year if the service is worth the price. So far so good."

"After smelling something dead, on a Friday morning, I contact 5 places and no one would commit to do the work. My husband found ATCO by searching the web. We talked to them on the phone and David from ATCO Pest Control was the one that serves us. He came on time and explain upfront all the terms and what he was going to do. Then, he went underneath the house, (not an easy thing to do because everything is narrowed), and located a dead rat near the heat vents. He also located the points of the entrance where they come. He placed several traps. Then, explain the post-work we will have to do in the near future. He acted very professionally and, we are very please with his work."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

The cost for bird and bat control services typically ranges from $300 to $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size and severity of the infestation, the specific removal method used, and the complexity of accessing the affected areas.

Generally, spring is the best time to hire a pest control service, but it also depends on when you notice the infestation. Insect pest numbers are lower in spring before they hatch, making the extermination and prevention process more manageable as nests and eggs of future pests are eliminated. However, don’t hesitate to hire a pest control specialist when you spot signs of a problem.

Certain strong smells may help repel bats, though this is not a foolproof method and is best used in conjunction with other deterrence strategies. Scents like peppermint oil, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cloves, and mint are often suggested as natural remedies. To create a spray, you can mix two cups of warm water with half a cup of sugar and a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Apply this mixture using a spray bottle to possible entry points and throughout the affected area, such as an attic. While this home remedy is popular, evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited.

Small amounts of geese are actually good for the environment. They help spread seeds and lead to more plant growth, but they’re often an invasive species, particularly Canadian geese. This means a small gaggle can quickly grow into a level that litters your lawn with bald patches and excrement.

Woodpeckers usually feed on homes when there is a food source present, and termites are one possible source. However, the presence of woodpeckers doesn’t necessarily mean there are termites. They may also be feeding on more harmless insects like ants or spiders. If woodpeckers seem drawn to one particular part of your home’s siding, it might be worth hiring a termite inspector to check for the presence of these pesky critters.
