"We have used this service for many years at 3 different properties. This time we were told that their minimum tree service was $650. We only have one tree at the address that required work. $650 was twice what we had paid for this service in the past. I guess we will look for a new service for this address."

"We called another tree service first. They looked at a photo and told us the tree couldnâ t be saved, but they would remove the tree and grind the stump for $300. We opted to get a second opinion. Tree Pros sent and arborist out promptly. He inspected the tree and told us what the problem was and why he felt it could be saved. (He also patiently answered all of my questions about the rest of our landscaping, providing excellent advice.) We were concerned that the price (roughly $500) was a little high for a service that would â probablyâ work, but we really wanted to save the tree, so we went for it. SO glad we did! It took about 10 days after treatment to see results, but now the tree is full of new healthy leaves. We - and the tree - are VERY happy with Tree Pros!"

"Design Tree Maintenance was so helpful and responsive to my concerns and needs. Half of my Palo Verde tree suddenly fell across my front yard. Design Tree Maintenance's quick service response to my calls, along with the quick removal and thorough clean-up by their crew, was excellent. I would highly recommend Design Tree Maintenance to my family and friends. Thank you!"

"10/10 overall service! From the free estimate to the finished product. Professional, on time, reasonably priced. My yard was a “jungle” and my trees were overgrown. I couldn’t believe the difference. I would DEFINITELY use them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.

Unlike some fruit trees, such as apple, sweet cherry, or pear that require at least two trees for pollination, most peach trees are self-pollinating. This means you can plant just one tree and still expect it to produce fruit, typically within two to four years. For best results, consult with a local landscaper to choose the right peach tree variety for your specific climate, soil type, and yard layout.
