"I have used Done Rite Services for couple of Plumbing jobs as well as fixing my Tankless Water Heater/Pump. They have done excellent jobs on all 3 occasions. The technicians that came- William for Tankless system and Danny for Plumbing issues - were both very professional, courteous, and are very experienced. They never tried to oversell or tried for other extra expenses that most plumbing companies here in town are so famous in trying to push towards you when they come for such jobs. I highly recommend this company to all - and have passed their info to all my friend and family. I will be using them only for all my HVAC, plumbing jobs - and they even do electric jobs as well. The staff at the office (Gina/Casey/Yandai) over the phone - are very professional and courteous as well - and the best part is their appointment system - they have text message reminder 24 hours ahead - and also when the tech is in route - they inform you with their profile picture and name and bio details, so you know when and who is arriving at your door step. Excellent service - keep up the good work - and I will be using you all from now on. Thanks again for the excellent work. Kishor Shrestha"

"PDW SEPTIC IS A VERY DIVERSE COMPANY. Not only do they pump septic tanks but can evaluate your current system, do major modifications, complete installation of new septic systems along with the leaching system. Tony, the foreman has over 35 years experience in the septic field and is very experienced in all phases of taking care of all your septic needs, as he did mine. Tony explained to me how your septic system is the very heart of your home as it can’t function without it. Thanks PDW, you gave my 50 year old septic system a new lease on life, and that I am grateful for"

"Travis and Jose arrived on time and went right to work on using their electronic equipment to locate where my sewer line ran from the house. They had to get up on the roof and run a cable down through a vent, then track where the cable was in the sewer pipe under ground. A former owner of the house created this problem because they built a brick patio right over the old access pipes so you couldn't get to them if you needed to clean out your sewer line! I don't get some people! Anyway, the men dug down about four feet through tree roots and dirt right on target to where the sewer line ran. I was totally impressed by their hard work and knowledge of my situation. They then installed the new PVC pipes by cutting the old sewer line and making a union with the new parts. They filled it I, watering it down as they went and cleaned up the area without leaving a trace -- except my new clean out access ports just above grade as I had asked. GREAT JOB GUYS! They were totally polite, professional and answered every question we put to them. I've got some piece of mind now and I say that's well worth the price. I will call on RAM again if I have any other plumbing issues. They have my respect and best recommendation.

"It was on a weekend (of course), but Cal's showed up very quickly (within about 15 mins of call) and immediately went to work. The task was completed within 30 mins. Very friendly and informative. Hopefully won't need to call anytime soon, but when we do, we will definitely call Cal's Plumbing again!!"

"It went very well. Matt quickly found the source of the leak and fixed it. This is a very good service. We have used them a couple of times. They come quickly, show up when they say they and they fix what needs to be fixed at a fair price. We highly recommend them."

"Chris and his team did great, high quality work. Not only did the repairs go well, but in working under my sink they found that the cause of our issue was a leaky garbage disposal. They went out and got a new one and installed it for us. The team was very prompt, polite and profession. They did a great job in cleaning up after the work. The process of reviewing the estimate and payment were very convenient. I highly recommend Right Way Home Improvements and would gladly use their services again."

"Poorly... Boy,oh boy! What people will do for a buck! So, Perry Heating Came out and checked the air conditioner at no charge as part of the service agreement for the new system I had installed last year. Then they charged me $79.99 for the service call and then they said they couldn't just put a patch the copper tubing going to the swamp cooler. So, he put all new copper tubing on and charged me for 6 feet of tubing. He charged me $11.54 a foot! So, I complained about that cost, but he showed me the manual where it states the charge. Now to the good part. My friend just happened to call me and I told her that the cost of the copper was $11.54. She just had a fit about the cost. Unbeknownst to me, she called Ace Hardware and asked what their price was for copper tubing for a swamp cooler. They said $0.69 a foot. So, I caught the worker as he was leaving. Even though he was nice, I told him to call their office as I wanted to talk to the manager. He did. I told him what I discovered about the price of copper. He tried arguing with me and asked me if I didn't expect the copper to be more than $0.69. I said, "Of course, I expect you to make money from the copper, but not almost $11 per foot. He then tried to put me down and argue. I interrupted him and said, "Don't try getting into an argument with me. I'm much older and smarter than you are. So make an adjustment in the price. I'm canceling the check that I gave the worker and reporting you to better business bureau. He said, "Let me talk to our serviceman". An adjustment was made. Instead of the original charge of $148.99, the new amount was $88.99. It is too bad these kind of things happen. I feel better though. I feel they made profit, but didn't rob me at the same time."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

If you notice any new sump pump noises, such as persistent clanging or gurgling, then you likely have a sump pump problem on your hands. Foul odors coming from the pump can also indicate problems. Additionally, if your unit turns on but doesn't pump water, you might have to address electrical problems. In any of these cases, it's a good idea to hire a professional to address the issue.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

Start by calling a plumber if you want to install a sump pump battery backup. Talk to them about your situation and needs. Sometimes, electricians or waterproofing contractors will install a battery backup, and in that case, the plumber you call should be able to point you in the right direction.

Inspect the pump annually, test the float switch, and clean the discharge line to ensure efficient operation.
