"APS did a great job on our very long driveway. They came and returned calls when they said. The workers took their time, were very careful not to get the blacktop on the rocks lining the driveway and did not leave untilevery inch of the driveway looked great. We would highly recommend APS to anyone needing a driveway repave."

"LHB Concrete and More LLC did a great job in installing concrete foundation pads for anchoring our new pergola to the existing paver deck. Lester (company owner) and his team were all professional, highly skilled craftsmen, and worked great together in getting the job successfully accomplished. LHB's Team did a great job in carefully removing the required number of pavers in the four (4) areas of the paver deck where the foundation pads were to be installed and pouring the high strength concrete foundation pads. The Team carefully replaced all of the removed pavers in their correct pattern over the newly poured foundation pads to match the rest of the paver pattern. ONce the concrete pads had fully cured, LHB assembled the pergola and anchored it to the concrete pads. If you have any concrete, paver, pergola, or just about any other job you need accomplished, LHB Concrete and More LLC is the team to hire for your needs."

Small jobs welcome

"AB and team were fast, efficient, friendly, and very professional when they fixed my concrete wall last week. The work was excellent and the cost was exactly what was estimated (and that was very reasonable). My mother said the mason was an artist, and I have to agree! I would highly recommend Borja Unique Masonry."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of surface, but if you’re preparing to pressure wash a driveway, you’ll start by using a broom or leaf blower to get rid of dirt, leaves, and other debris. Then, move any nearby items (like outdoor furniture and potted plants) and cover in-ground plants with a tarp or plastic sheet. After that, you can apply degreaser spray or another pretreatment solution to any stains and scrub them with a stiff brush before pressure washing.

In most cases, driveway repair is worth the investment. Your driveway is one of the first things people see when they look at your home, so repairing cracks, chips, and potholes can improve your home’s curb appeal and overall value. Repairing your driveway is also almost always more affordable than replacing it entirely—an average of $1,765 compared to the cost of replacing a driveway, which typically costs around $5,000.

You should always hook up your pressure washer to the water supply before turning it on and ensure there’s a good water flow. If you try to turn the machine on without water in the system, it overworks and overheats the unlubricated pump. This can quickly lead to irreversible damage.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

Yes, you can pressure wash with just water. The force of the water alone is often enough to remove dirt, grime, and debris from many surfaces. However, for tougher stains like grease, mildew, or algae, adding a detergent or cleaning solution can enhance the cleaning power. Be sure to use the appropriate nozzle and pressure settings for the surface to achieve the best results without causing damage.
