"Short version: They ALL did a great job. All the way from the 1st call to when they left after the job was done. Long version. I had 2 AC guys out and both said there was a short in the low voltage wire running between the upstairs air handler. One AC company quoted me $1,500 to do the job. YIKES. That seemed high...very high. The 2nd AC guy said he doesn't pull wire and I needed to find an electrician to do that job and then he would return after the new wire was ran. Since our upstairs AC has been out for literally 5 days we needed someone ASAP. So, I went on Angie's List and I filled out the form and less than 2 minutes after I submitted the form my phone rang. It was Stephanie from Bolt Electricity. I told her our dilemma and much to my surprise she scheduled their rep, Daniel, to come out here between 10am - 1PM. He got here around 11:00AM. I showed him what was needed, we discussed some options. He reviewed the situation and gave me a quote. A quote that made me nearly fall out of my chair. I said yes and when could he get someone out here to run the wires? He called their scheduler and they understood our situation, rearranged some jobs and said they could get two guys out here in a few hours. WOW. Almost fell out of my chair a 2nd time. Those two very polite and professional techs (Will and Matt) came right on time and got to work. And they did a fantastic job. And before they started to put the wire in the conduit, they called me out there and explained what they wanted to do and to get my approval. They then went back to work and finished up. Ok, let me wrap this up. They did a fantastic job, the work looks great and my wife and I could not be happier! Sorry about the gushing but when your AC is out in the summer in AZ and it gets fixed...well, you understand. Everyone at Bolt Electric treated us like we matter and did a fantastic job."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Phoenix, the extreme heat and intense sun can cause electrical wiring to degrade faster, especially on rooftops or exposed areas. Seasonal dust storms can clog outdoor electrical panels, while monsoon lightning increases the risk of power surges. Electrical contractors in Phoenix often recommend elevated conduit runs and sealed junction boxes to prevent dust and moisture intrusion, ensuring long-term reliability in this unique desert environment.

Helpful?

Electrical projects in Phoenix can take longer during summer due to heat safety protocols, with crews often starting early and taking midday breaks. A typical panel upgrade may require a full day, while a whole-home rewire can span several days. Commercial electrical work may extend over weeks. Phoenix’s seasonal weather, especially monsoons, can add time, so electrical contractors often build in extra days for weather-related delays.

Helpful?

In Phoenix, home electrical maintenance should include quarterly cleaning of outdoor panels to remove dust and debris, plus visual inspections for sun damage on exposed wiring. Before monsoon season, check and reseal all outdoor electrical enclosures. Electrical contractors in Phoenix recommend testing surge protectors annually and tightening all connections, as thermal expansion from high temperatures can loosen fittings over time.

Helpful?

When hiring an electrical contractor in Phoenix, prioritize those with proven experience in desert climates and strong local references. Look for professionals who understand the impact of high temperatures, dust, and monsoon storms on electrical systems. Ensure they follow AZ safety codes and use materials rated for extreme heat. A contractor familiar with Phoenix’s unique weather challenges will deliver safer, longer-lasting results for your home.

Helpful?

For Phoenix electrical projects, using THWN-2 wire is recommended for its heat and moisture resistance, especially in attic spaces where temperatures soar. Rigid metal conduit protects against both UV rays and dust. Electrical contractors in Phoenix also favor weatherproof, gasketed enclosures and high-temperature-rated circuit breakers. Stainless steel fasteners and anti-corrosion coatings help prevent rust, making them ideal for the AZ climate’s harsh conditions.
