"Short version: They ALL did a great job. All the way from the 1st call to when they left after the job was done. Long version. I had 2 AC guys out and both said there was a short in the low voltage wire running between the upstairs air handler. One AC company quoted me $1,500 to do the job. YIKES. That seemed high...very high. The 2nd AC guy said he doesn't pull wire and I needed to find an electrician to do that job and then he would return after the new wire was ran. Since our upstairs AC has been out for literally 5 days we needed someone ASAP. So, I went on Angie's List and I filled out the form and less than 2 minutes after I submitted the form my phone rang. It was Stephanie from Bolt Electricity. I told her our dilemma and much to my surprise she scheduled their rep, Daniel, to come out here between 10am - 1PM. He got here around 11:00AM. I showed him what was needed, we discussed some options. He reviewed the situation and gave me a quote. A quote that made me nearly fall out of my chair. I said yes and when could he get someone out here to run the wires? He called their scheduler and they understood our situation, rearranged some jobs and said they could get two guys out here in a few hours. WOW. Almost fell out of my chair a 2nd time. Those two very polite and professional techs (Will and Matt) came right on time and got to work. And they did a fantastic job. And before they started to put the wire in the conduit, they called me out there and explained what they wanted to do and to get my approval. They then went back to work and finished up. Ok, let me wrap this up. They did a fantastic job, the work looks great and my wife and I could not be happier! Sorry about the gushing but when your AC is out in the summer in AZ and it gets fixed...well, you understand. Everyone at Bolt Electric treated us like we matter and did a fantastic job."

"Here in Phoenix, my service technician was Gino Raciti. He was professional, polite and informative; and represents Mr. Sparky (electrical service) in a positive light. Mr. Sparky should be very proud to have such an employee of his caliber. I will be using this company for more of my electrical needs. Mr. Sparky is very thorough when it comes to educating a homeowner on electrical maintenance (& helping to prevent any duture electrical 'shut-down' on my property / or inside my home)."

"Alex explained current electrical codes. My neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places so the majority of homes are over sixty years old, including mine. He told me all the things necessary to bring the house to code, so it is an ongoing project. Will hire for more work in the Fall."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Your Sun Lakes home is likely a strong candidate for electrical upgrades if you notice frequent breaker trips, flickering lights when using large appliances, or a lack of GFCI outlets near water sources. Homes with pools, spas, or older wiring—especially those built before modern safety standards—can benefit from updated electrical work to boost both safety and efficiency.

Helpful?

Establish a routine in Sun Lakes by inspecting pool and spa wiring, outdoor lighting, and GFCI outlets each spring. Before monsoon season, secure outdoor wiring, clear dust from panels, and test surge protectors. After storms, check for water intrusion and test all safety outlets. In winter, review heating system wiring and inspect outdoor components for sun damage to ensure year-round reliability.

Helpful?

In Sun Lakes, everyday habits like overloading circuits by running several high-power appliances at once, letting dust accumulate in outlets and panels, and neglecting to prep for monsoon season can all strain your electrical system. Charging golf carts improperly or ignoring regular cleaning of outdoor electrical components can also lead to premature wear and overheating, especially in the desert climate.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Sun Lakes should start with a comprehensive electrical panel inspection, install GFCI outlets near pools and outdoor spaces, and add whole-house surge protection for monsoon readiness. Upgrading AC circuits and adding ceiling fans can improve comfort and efficiency. Planning for solar-ready upgrades or future EV charging can also increase your home’s value and adaptability over time.

Helpful?

Homes in Sun Lakes with concrete slab foundations, stucco exteriors, or tile roofs may face challenges during electrical projects, as these features can limit access for new wiring or solar installations. Limited attic space and mature landscaping can also make routing cables or trenching for outdoor electrical more complex, while HOA guidelines may further influence project planning.
