"The project spanned about 6 months as we had an unforeseen work stoppage due to an issue with the Park that the home is located in- nothing to do with the remodel. The contractor worked around schedules and issues. They did the plans, got the permits, and stayed in constant communications with us throughout. They stayed within their estimates and added any of our changes we requested and authorized so we always had a running cost total. Yes, the project cost grew because we saw and wanted changes. At completion there were no hidden surprises. They did all the work themselves-no subcontractors to blame. They even did the concrete finishing and staining and some landscaping."

"Cook Remodeling converted my carport to a garage and they did a wonderful job. They made sure everything was perfect and I ended up with a beautiful addition to my home. I worked with Jeff Cook and from our initial meeting, to his estimate, and all the way through construction I felt that he was listening to what I wanted while also sharing his expertise. Everyone that worked at my house, both Cook Remodeling employees and their subcontractors, were professional and treated me with respect. They always were considerate of my needs and they cleaned up at the end of every day. I would definitely work with Cook Remodeling again."

"Jim was very responsive to my request for information and work started 30 days after initial discussions.  The work involved in demolition of the shower and bathtub in the master bath and installation of a large shower with level floor entry (no raised threshold).  Getting a zero entry shower involved removal of the slab to create the correct slope to the floor to assure water drainage.  Granite counter tops, new sinks and faucets as well as additional lighting were installed in both bathrooms.

Work was continuous once commenced and the project was completed on time in two and a half weeks.  I was very pleased with the level of professionalism, knowledge and commitment evidenced by the Regal employees and subcontractors.  I feel I received good value for the cost and would recommend this firm."

"Gary the owner wsa very straightforward and professional. He listened caefully to what we wanted to do and executed flawlessly. With other contractors in the past we often needed to stay very engaged to insure the outcome was what we asked for. This was definitely not needed with Gary. He has an easy going style & communicates regularly on each step of the process. He also pays attention to details to achieve a high quality result. His employees & subcontractors were also very polite & considerate of our needs. They also kept the work areas very clean. I would not hesitate to use him again & recommend him highly.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

An architect is usually involved in the process of determining the layout and structural features and requirements of the home itself, taking into account the local codes, climate, and materials needed to make the home structurally sound. Architects may communicate more with contractors and subcontractors throughout the building process. In comparison to architects, interior designers typically focus on the aesthetics of a home interior and possibly exterior, helping the homeowner decide on color schemes, textures, and materials to incorporate into the design.

Dekton is worth the money for homeowners who want a nonporous countertop that resists heat, stains, water, scratches, and UV damage. It comes in a wide array of colors and patterns at various price points to suit different renovation budgets. Dekton is not worth the cost for homeowners who are particularly worried about chipping or cracking.

Dark academia is more of an interior decorating style than it is a type of architecture, but it calls on themes prevalent in gothic architecture. Part of the appeal of dark academia is that you can achieve the look and feel without renovating or remodeling your home. Instead, you can switch to a dark color palette and introduce metal, natural wood furniture, plaid decor, old books, and gothic decor to get the look and feel just right.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Regular meetings, reviewing drafts, and providing input on materials help align the project with your vision.
