"Cook Remodeling converted my carport to a garage and they did a wonderful job. They made sure everything was perfect and I ended up with a beautiful addition to my home. I worked with Jeff Cook and from our initial meeting, to his estimate, and all the way through construction I felt that he was listening to what I wanted while also sharing his expertise. Everyone that worked at my house, both Cook Remodeling employees and their subcontractors, were professional and treated me with respect. They always were considerate of my needs and they cleaned up at the end of every day. I would definitely work with Cook Remodeling again."

"Following an usually heavy rain in our area,  we discovered interior flooding. We called Al's plumbing and Al came to our residence within a couple of hours.  He checked the outside water meter before approaching our door and promptly ruled out the water lines as being the source of the incoming water which provided us with some immediate good news.  He proceeded to inspected the area of the interior flooding and determined that a cracked concrete slab at our front door was slightly slanted towards our house.   Therefore, any accumulated rain water at the front door area had a means to seep in.  Al recommended the repair of the concrete and recommended a gutter to redirect water that came off of the roof away from the front door area.  Al installed a gutter for us that blended in with the exterior portion of our house.  It recently rained heavily in our area again and the gutter worked perfectly.

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

There are several different steps in the pole barn building process. First, you’ll need construction plans, which you’ll use to obtain permits. Then, you can clear the land so it’s suitable for building and installing the foundation. Your contractor will frame the barn using large poles, then rough in the plumbing and electricity (if your barn has those elements) before finishing the interior, adding siding, and installing the roof.

After that, they’ll finish up the electrical work and plumbing and add your windows and doors. You may have a few other finishing jobs to do like painting or waterproofing.

You'll find Arts and Crafts homes across the country in varying styles. On the East Coast, bungalows and Tudor Revivals fill the Boston area through New Jersey. In the West, Mission-style homes incorporate terracotta shingles, white stucco siding, and rounded archways.

When conducting space planning, building codes and regulations need to be considered. As long as you are taking them into account and discussing them with the architect, you should be able to do your space planning appropriately.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

The costs depend on the type of wood, labor, roofing material, permits, and whether additional storage or enclosed walls are included.
