"Working with Scott and Cactus Nectar has been fantastic! We had several projects going simultaneously, from interior paint to exterior landscaping/turf install, to a major renovation with exterior door installation. All of the employees and subcontractors who have come through have been respectful, communicative, and the quality of work has been of the absolute highest standard. After our painting was complete our neighbors came over, after just having had their home painted by another company, and were so impressed by the quality of work that they asked for our contractors contact info, since the results were so much better than theirs! We will definitely continue to use them, and have a couple more projects planned already!"

"We had a really good experience working with Adam and his team. The process of getting a quote was good; one person was dedicated to doing the layout and quote, and he was a pleasure to work with. They started the project when they said they would, and the work was completed within a few days of the expected time frame. They were willing to help us consider ways of saving money on the project, including helping us know very transparently what the prices were for different materials choices. They also let us do some work ourselves to save money. As a result, even though we made some â splurgesâ on a nice backsplash and countertops, we were still pretty close to the original budget and timeline. The workers were friendly and trustworthy, and did good quality work. Adam himself had some really great ideas about design choices, and you should definitely trust him if you are trying to decide on certain features and he has a suggestion. He steered us away from some choices we would have regretted. Overall, we did a pretty significant kitchen remodel (including layout changes) and I couldnâ t be happier with how it turned out. I definitely recommend working with this team."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

You can draw your own house plans using three-dimensional modeling software, but in most cases, you’ll need an architect to draw up the final plans. Architects understand local building regulations and requirements, so their plans will be necessary for getting permits approved, and they’ll also ensure your home is structurally sound. DIY house plans can be a good place to start to help visualize your project, but you should always defer to a professional before trying to proceed with the project.

While concrete walls do not need to "breathe" in the traditional sense of the word, they do require waterproofing and dehumidifying methods, particularly in basements below the water table. Concrete both contains moisture from its initial installation and can absorb water when exposed. Ensuring proper basement ventilation , installing a vapor barrier, and controlling water exposure are all important tasks.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Universal design costs can be minimal when you add them during construction; however, adding universal design principles to existing homes can sometimes increase renovation costs. For example, a mid-grade bathroom remodel is estimated to cost around $30,000, while a standard universal design remodel can cost closer to $40,000. Adding accessible design components can include widening hallways ($500 to $2,000), curbless showers ($2,000 to $8,000), and widening doors ($400 to $800). Keep in mind that these increased costs can lead to higher resale values because universal homes may appeal to a wider variety of buyers.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.
