"Very quickly diagnosed my furnace's problem and had the part onboard their truck, which was impressive to me because it's a mobile home furnace. Price of the part was far less than I expected and the labor cost was as well. I was particularly impressed that even though the owner of the company was having surgery that very time, they put my lack of heat as a priority and honored the appointment---even though they could have rescheduled. An excellent company doing business in a more than "fair" way; I would call them "customer-centric" and even "self-sacrificial"---and that is not hype. I recommend them above all other HVAC companies local or franchise (I have been ripped off by several of them, so I think I have a basis for this claim)."

"We were very happy with Bama Air Systems. They came out for an estimate on a Mini-Split in a timely manner, and had a quick turn-around time for installation. Their service professionals, Austin, Zach and JC, were on time, friendly and courteous, and very efficient. The installation took less than a day, and they cleaned up the construction debris thoroughly. We would definitely recommend them for your HVAC needs."

"I have had many experiences with HVAC personnel over the years. Iâ ve been a homeowner for 26 years and am on my second Trane heat pump system. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Gipson Heating & Air Conditioning gave me the most thorough service Iâ ve received in those 26 years. They not only performed the seasonal maintenance on my unit, but discovered and remedied additional problems. They even corrected mistakes made by previous contractors which could have led to a malfunction of my unit in the future. (One example: I had been dealing with a condensation problem in my air handler and Shane Gipson explained why it was happening and fixed it immediately. By the way, the condensation was caused by the omission of an important step which another companyâ s rep had not bothered to return my call on, much less offer to remedy.) Shane Gipsonâ s knowledge and expertise was surpassed only by his willingness to go above and beyond what he initially came to do. And he patiently answered all my questions (I had many). I urge you to give Gipson Heating & Air a call when you next need maintenance work or repair on your heating/air unit, no matter the brand. You will not be disappointed. In fact, you may be amazed that there are still those who have such a work ethic and hold themselves to such a high standard. And you will be left with peace of mind, knowing that no stone was left unturned in the care of your system. I thank Shane and Shawn for their impeccable service."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, or ASHRAE, sets the standard guidelines for air changes per hour in homes and businesses. The International Residential Code, or IRC, also sets ACH requirements for residences and bases those requirements off of ASHRAE standards plus climate specifics related to your location.

Your heating and cooling systems cost you the most on your electric bill and make up 50% of your bill on average. Your washing machine, dryer, oven, and stove contribute significantly to your electric bill as well. Lights, fans, and smaller electronics add up, but aren’t the biggest energy consumers. You can reduce your power usage by setting optimal temperatures on your thermostat and investing in energy-efficient appliances.

The average life span of an HVAC system is 15 to 20 years. Even if your old air conditioner is still functional, it isn't as energy-efficient as a newer system (especially one with an Energy Star designation). Older HVAC systems aren't as efficient, and the 10-year mark is when you should start making full system replacement plans. Twenty years in, that plan should be well underway rather than waiting for the unit to die.

Absolutely! You can seriously improve the overall value of your home by maintaining high-quality, compatible systems for heating and cooling. Potential buyers will love not having to worry about getting a new HVAC unit for 15 to 20 years and will pay more for it. For maximum efficiency and cost savings, replacing the furnace and air conditioner at the same time, when possible, gives you (and potential future buyers) reliable comfort and modern convenience.

If your whole house is cold that’s one thing, but what if you only have a few rooms that are cold? First, you need to determine why this may be happening. A good place to start is to investigate the potential causes listed in this article—heat transfer, airflow, thermostat problems, humidity, and insulation. Once you’ve narrowed down the issue, you’d apply the same principles to the cold rooms as you would to the entire home.
