Great fast reasonable and on time!

I was a longtime and happy Ace customer. I agreed to pay $700 for having a limb cut down, cut up and all of the wood debris hauled away. That was our agreement. They cut the limb down. In the process, they busted my retaining wall and flower box/garden. It was discovered that a wasp nest had been disturbed and we were instructed to get them taken care of, then they would be back to finish the job and repair the retaining wall. We had the wasps taken care of the next day and called Ace Tree Service to let them know that we were ready for them to come back. We had numerous conversations and exchanged emails. There were many instances when we were told that someone was coming but nobody ever showed up. The large limb was left in the yard. I cut it up and hauled it away myself. I repaired the wall myself. I gave them multiple opportunities to come out and finish the job, but after several attempts and promises of “we’ll get someone other this week” I gave up and did myself. This was done back in July. I didn’t hear anything from Ace Tree for 3 months, but then suddenly they started hounding me for a “past due” invoice for a job they never completed.

They came in the middle of a heat wave and did great work. They cleaned up after and I was very pleased with their work. Only took two hours to remove a giant dead tree from my back yard.

It went well once scheduled for good. Scheduling was my only issue with them. Price was very good and the workers appeared to know their job well.

We needed 2 large pine trees removed as well as 3-4 other smaller trees cut out. On May 23rd we had them come out and give us a quote and worked out a price. Within a day we decided to contract with Ace and have them do the work. I was told then that it would be 3-4 weeks before the work started. A few weeks pass and on June 24 we finally get a call from their office telling me that they finally have me on the schedule for late July!! Stuck the date on my calendar and shrugged it off. The day of the removal comes and I never get a phone call, so around lunch I buzz their office only to be told that they are rescheduling me again due to some backlog. They didn't give me a date but said they would call to reschedule. So 2-3 days later I haven't heard anything and pick the phone up myself to call again. After telling them that I was frustrated I told them that I needed them out within a week (due to contraction plans). So of course the second date comes and goes with no show or call. At this point I start bidding the project back out to other companies around town. About a week after all of this they call and set another date. Their crew finally made it out on Friday, August 11. They did a great job once there. Their team worked really hard, they laid down plywood on the lawn to protect it from being torn up, and they even thinned out a bunch of dead privet for a couple of extra bucks. The only downer was that an indian hawthorn bush got uprooted by some of their equipment and ended up killing it. No big loss though. But then I was told that their tree pickup truck was running behind and would be there within a week to get everything. And like a dummy, I believed them. 10 days later I finally send an angry email to them letting them know that I would be happy to wait longer for their tree truck as long as they didn't mind me deducting the cost of new sod from the amount of dead grass that the trees were covering up. So on day 11 their truck finally showed up. Honestly this was a great company that came highly recommended from some friends. But, they are plagued with terrible communication and setting realistic expectations. The amount of money we saved by going with them was not worth the headaches that we got.

Ace was fairly quick to come out for the estimate. Prices were reasonable. Josh told me up front that it would take approximately four weeks to come out, which was fine. They came out the first time as scheduled, however they only trimmed 50% of the trees on the estimate. I waited two weeks and called back when no one contacted me or showed back up. This lead to ~4 more weeks of back and forth through at least five phone calls to finally receive confirmation that the crew would come out to finish, as apparently that day they had been pulled away for another job. In the interim Mike came out to grind the stumps. Was very nice and noted that the company was experiencing growing pains which lead to the delay. When the crew finally came out, they crashed their truck through into the side of the house knocking the garage door a few inches into the garage and damaging the brick and garage door frame. This lead to two visits by their contractor aka Josh's best friend to fix the damage. So, finally after nearly four months from the original estimate and multiple days of having to work from home to accommodate repairs, my trees are trimmed and my garage door is somewhat back to normal. Josh refused to offer any discount off of the estimate despite my headaches, so although the crew was friendly and seemed to do a good job on the trees, the liability and hassle will force me to look elsewhere moving forward, as tree trimmers are a dime a dozen in Birmingham. I'd suggest others do the same.

They came quickly and supplied an estimate that was half the price of another estimate to remove a large tree and grind the stump, remove several large shrubs and grind their stumps, and remove some branches hanging over the house. The only delay was getting the shrub stumps ground near the house that were near the gas and water lines. Apparently, that required different equipment and a different operator.

We had used Ace many years ago to remove a dead tree and again recently to do the work described here. This company is very professional and easy to work with. They worked efficiently and left the yard very clean and tidy. This is a reliable company.

Everything was done in a very professional manner. No complaints. Would definitely use them again in the future.

Ace came highly recommended.  We were given an on site quote based on the review of the work needed.  We had two different trees, both with obstructions and some risks, removed.  The price seemed fair.  The estimator promised that if the ground was wet they would use plywood to avoid damaging our lawn.  They did not come on the day they were scheduled though I took off from work to be here.  They didn't call until the end of the day to say why they no-showed and to reschedule.  They had made a tree that fell on someone else's house a higher priority; this was appropriate and fine.  But they could have called that morning, when they re-ordered their schedule.  When they did come two days later, it began pouring rain including thunder.  Rather than being impressed that they worked through it, it actually concerned me that they put themselves at such a safety risk.  There had been three weeks of unpredicted sudden hard showers prior to that day so the storm wasn't a surprise.  They did not come with plywood as promised.  They used a bobcat-like machine to removed the debris from the yard.  This caused the back yard to get trenched.  Rather than waiting for their bucket truck to move out of the driveway they chose to drive their machine across the front yard, trenching it too.  The worst part is when we emailed our contact the next day and included our concerns about our lawn they never responded at all!  They sent the bill though.  I spent a weekend shoveling dirt into the trenches in order to level out the yard and now hoping the grass will spread back in eventually.

workers were friendly and professional. removed trees and limbs exactly how we had asked. cleaned up and hauled off trees. job well done. would recommend ace to anyone

I would hire them in the future. They could have been more punctual on my stump grinding.

I called two times to try and get an appointment for someone to come out to my house and look at some trees. The receptionist said she would have an arborist call me back, but both times, I never recieved a call back.

It went well, they were unable to come on the day scheduled; but the notified me of this fact so that they could reschedule. The limbs were trimmed to my satisfaction, the limbs were removed and my yard cleaned of debris.
