"Excellent! Robert Pannell is the owner & operator. His sons also assist him so it is a family business. He responded very quickly & came out the same week. We have three air conditioner units & two dryer vents. They completed the job within four hours because two of his sons assistants him. They wore masks & used social distancing which we appreciated since we have an older at risk household member. He also used a healthy disinfectant spray in the ducts. It is a “Green” product. Thanks Robert & family for making our home cleaner & healthier."

"One Source just saved me from replacing my entire system. I called One Source after getting a repair quote from another HVAC company that told me my compressor was bad and tried to sell me a new system. One Source tech came out a few hours later and replaced a solenoid and had my ac cooling immediately afterwards. The tech was very knowledgeable and helpful."

"Brandon Byers, The Comfort Doctor, is the best HVAC guy I have ever met. He was on time. He explained what he was going to do before he did it. In plain English. He found a refrigerant leak the other guy could not find. The price was reasonable. He was not a fast talking salesman trying to pressure me into buying a whole new system. Very knowledgeable. I have been trying to find an HVAC guy I could trust for years. Brandon Byers, The Comfort Doctor is the only guy I will ever call for HVAC maintenance, repair or installation. Beth Grey"

"Timothy is incredibly friendly and easy to get in touch with. Another company had come out to diagnose my AC and claimed they fixed it, but when I got home, it still wasn't working. I reached out to Timothy around 9:00 pm just to ask about getting a diagnosis. He asked me a few questions, assured me he could fix it, and said he could come out that same night. He fixed it quickly, was honest, and answered all my questions. I will be using him for all our HVAC needs in the future and would highly reccomend him to anyone needing HVAC work done!"

"On a Sunday night (while it was snowing), he promptly returned my phone call. After explaining the problem he gave me a quick estimate over the phone. Arrived at my home exactly when he said he would (I believe right down to the minute). Quickly fixed the problem and though it was a little more involved than he initially thought it would be after my description over the phone, he only charged me the estimate he gave over the phone. For under $150, I had my heat working again within 3 hours of my phone conversation Jonathan on a snowy Sunday night. You will not be disappointed with him!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It’s normal to hear a low humming sound as air moves through your vents. Most of the time, you probably won’t even notice it. However, if that sound becomes disruptive or if you hear more concerning noises (such as rattling, clicking, banging, hissing, or grinding), there might be a problem with your HVAC system.

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

Yes, the furnace and AC use the same blower. The blower is located in the base of the furnace and pushes hot air out of the furnace and into the ducts. It also pushes cool air through the home when the air conditioning is on. Even though the furnace and air conditioning work independently of one another, the blower is an essential component for both systems.

The cost to replace an AC unit averages around $5,900, with a typical range between $3,900 and $8,020. The final price depends on several factors, including the type and size of the air conditioner, its efficiency rating, your geographic region, and labor costs for installation. Smaller units like portable and window ACs are much less expensive, costing between $90 and $550, compared to central or ductless systems. If your current unit is less than 10 years old, repairing it may be more cost-effective than a full replacement.

To keep a window air conditioner in good working order, you should clean the filter regularly, inspect the seals, and store the unit properly during the off-season.
